This is actually a huge win for GA. Very solid club in OKC with a lot of potential.

I’m confused. People keep saying Aspire is stronger than RL. Why would they take an RL club straight into GA? Weren’t there any OK Aspire clubs to promote? Why didn’t they offer this club an Aspire spot instead of straight into GA?
Because this club is more equivalent to GA. They couldn’t get ECNL so GA was next best. DMV needs to stop thinking our area represents the broader nation. DMV is a mess. Other areas have really strong RL teams that will go GA for a national platform if they cant get into ECNL. Aspire probably doesn’t even exist in most areas.

Your assessment of RL teams is laughable. They do not compare to GA or ECNL.

minus the top 15-20 GA clubs, the rest of GA is equivalent to RL. it is just a fact. Oklahoma Celtic is a MID level RL club at EVERY age group. so your point is easily proven false. Now they are gonna dominate and/or compete in GA? oh please

the GA hats justifying a mid to bottom level RL team from Oklahoma. this cracks me up.

Your wife told me yesterday she thinks you're too obsessed with ECNL. She ssid it's because you are "lacking in another area."

And for the 1000th time, GA parents don't wear hats or visors. It's the nerdy, insecure ECNL dads who buy them.

personal attacks are the last refuge of a scoundrel. both my daughters played GA. 1 in DA when it went bankrupt.full stop. just not a fan of GA picking up scraps to overextend so they don't go bankrupt again. but go on

Its not possible to "overextend" theres too much money in youth sports as long as you're charging parents. DA fell appart because they tried to provide free soccer to Acadamy players. At the end of the dinner someone has to pick up the check.

you are right about the money issue but most parents are too dumb to understand their average betsy team in RL moving to GA is no better. I think the poster stating overextend used the wrong word. GA is accepting really average teams and diluting itself, quantity over quality is what they are doing and trying to grab market share. when my daughters team was not playing last Dec showcase in Norco (champions club) I walked around and watched a lot of games in their "showcase" for other clubs/teams. the quality was just not there and I never saw more than 3 college coaches at any "showcase" game (not including the champions club games) so what is the point or worth?

This is easily proven false. How could they dilute in Oklahoma City if they did not have a team in OKC. It's smart strategy to have teams in larger populations centers across the country. In a few years Celtic could overtake OK Energy FC as the top team in OKC, they are well positioned for this. Is OKC one of the top markets in the US for soccer? No, but it is a market with potential.

Kids buy the hoodies, tho. They are nice.

ECNL cut back in the graphic design department though. Each showcase logo had more unique design and was made specifically for the host city. Now they are all cookie cutter. The hoodies used to be cool, now they are pretty much all the same with a few color changes.

Its more about reading the market. If you look at this one move in a vacuum, no big deal. Zoom out and there is enough data to read a larger pattern and recognize a trend. GA is making moves not just for this season, but with the future in mind.

ECNL's strategy so far seems to be more focused on the next few years.

I think ECNL should expand their top 20 teams rosters to include an additional 40 "support players". This why your kid and parents themselves can brag about playing on XYZ superteam but never see the field. Only 6k per year for this amazing opportunity. You can be completely remote!

I have a different read of this. It shows the leagues are pursuing different strategies.

GA is trying to expand as much as possible. More teams = more money.

ECNL thinks over expansion risks dilution and is trying to restrict supply to remain elite rather than normal, everywhere, and anodyne.

We’ll see who’s right.

But this does suggest mid-tier RL teams are viewed by GA as on a GA level and not an Aspire level, notwithstanding the propaganda about Aspire overtaking RL.

GA didn't have any representation in OKC and they wanted a club in that market, now they have a presence in OKC.

Anonymous message boards are fascinating little laboratories of human psychology. Remove names, add competition, stir in youth sports, and suddenly everyone becomes a satirist.

I’m not interested in bragging rights or labels. I care about development, playing time, and long-term growth. If a team environment provides real coaching, meaningful minutes, and the right competitive challenge, that’s what matters to us. Titles and message board commentary don’t change the work a player puts in every day.

It sounds like you are the perfect candidate for our special one time offer of a "support player" roster spot. Be the life of the party, impress your country club associates. Hurry because rosters are limited and top teams are filling up fast.

I’m not sure adding 1 team signals that GA is trying to expand as much as possible.

Don't give them any ideas. I know a few parents that would pay for this.

RL is definitely higher level than Aspire and is almost on par with GA.

But ECNL is getting ready to give probably 10-12 clubs promotion on the girls side this year.

They made a lot of promises last year to pull clubs away from MLS2 and GA and stick with the RL platform.
