This is actually a huge win for GA. Very solid club in OKC with a lot of potential.

the GA hats justifying a mid to bottom level RL team from Oklahoma. this cracks me up.

Its more about reading the market. If you look at this one move in a vacuum, no big deal. Zoom out and there is enough data to read a larger pattern and recognize a trend. GA is making moves not just for this season, but with the future in mind.

ECNL's strategy so far seems to be more focused on the next few years.

I have a different read of this. It shows the leagues are pursuing different strategies.

GA is trying to expand as much as possible. More teams = more money.

ECNL thinks over expansion risks dilution and is trying to restrict supply to remain elite rather than normal, everywhere, and anodyne.

We’ll see who’s right.

But this does suggest mid-tier RL teams are viewed by GA as on a GA level and not an Aspire level, notwithstanding the propaganda about Aspire overtaking RL.

RL is definitely higher level than Aspire and is almost on par with GA.

But ECNL is getting ready to give probably 10-12 clubs promotion on the girls side this year.

They made a lot of promises last year to pull clubs away from MLS2 and GA and stick with the RL platform.

There are a lot of markets that can handle another ECNL team, Miami for one. Plus, I suspect Team Boca RL, although about an hour north of Miami, gets one soon. They have been pretty dominate in RL since they joined I think 3 or 4 years ago, get invited to a lot of the ECNL showcases. U19 team coached by FAU women's soccer coach and constantly puts out D1 players from the RL team.

I think ECNL should expand their top 20 teams rosters to include an additional 40 "support players". This why your kid and parents themselves can brag about playing on XYZ superteam but never see the field. Only 6k per year for this amazing opportunity. You can be completely remote!

Don't give them any ideas. I know a few parents that would pay for this.

Yep. They (parents not kids) would love access to the "exclusive" ECNL merch.

ECRL just had their Leaders Cup this last weekend in Florida. If you want to know who they think are the top RL clubs/teams, this is where to look. they selected the Top 20 clubs overall based on performance across all age groups and then then next 12 best individual teams in each age group.

Oklahoma Celtic in one age group. Middling RL team that will struggle in GA.
Team Boca in one age group (U19 PP mentions) - not strong in any other age group.
This is the list ECNL will promote from. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oZ1p9S4fsoB50T7HZCztO0ZrSsi2ZqBkJ3mEG1-jJVA/edit?gid=1712750639#gid=1712750639

incorrect. Team Boca is a powerhouse in every age group. the leaders cup is a band new tournament that was for the leaders in each conference and some conferences aren't even half way done. there were a lot of teams that turned it down.just too much soccer/cost and kids are in the middle of high school soccer. I know 3 teams who declined. some teams had to play an extra game to fill in and they had to reach out to some local teams that put together various levels to play. I would not use the leaders cup as an overall indication of really anything to be honest with you.

I’m confused. People keep saying Aspire is stronger than RL. Why would they take an RL club straight into GA? Weren’t there any OK Aspire clubs to promote? Why didn’t they offer this club an Aspire spot instead of straight into GA?
Because this club is more equivalent to GA. They couldn’t get ECNL so GA was next best. DMV needs to stop thinking our area represents the broader nation. DMV is a mess. Other areas have really strong RL teams that will go GA for a national platform if they cant get into ECNL. Aspire probably doesn’t even exist in most areas.

Your assessment of RL teams is laughable. They do not compare to GA or ECNL.

minus the top 15-20 GA clubs, the rest of GA is equivalent to RL. it is just a fact. Oklahoma Celtic is a MID level RL club at EVERY age group. so your point is easily proven false. Now they are gonna dominate and/or compete in GA? oh please

Minus the top 15-20 RL clubs, RL is essentially NCSL.

As if!!! People every where ask me about my ECNL hat!!! I love getting to explain to them how my daughter is an elite youth soccer player on a national team.

Of course, then I have to explain to them ECNL isn't the team when they ask if it is. I tell them no. It's the league they play in and how exclusive it is.

I then explain it's like wearing a hat or a shirt that says NFL or MLB on it. I'm showing my allegiance to THE LEAGUE, not my kid's team. Get it?

Most people walk away at that point if they have stayed that long. They simply don't understand.

I know of 3 RL clubs in my area that have already soft launched they are getting ECNL through coaches and parents. None are on this list.
