Aha...My kid found stash of the plague stash of snacks. They dissapeared. |
| Has anyone been shopping in the Arlington/Falls Church/Seven Corners area this week? Any idea how the Targets or Harris Teeters look? Don’t need wipes and I know sanitizer is gone but how does it look for pasta, cereal, tortillas etc? I imagine lots of people stocked up this weekends and then stores reloaded Monday/Tuesday but I’ve been away and the impression I’m getting is ppl are shopping 24-7. |
So far, we've been pretty good about not touching the Corona stash. I'm keeping it all out of the kitchen for starters (apart from the frozen goods) which helps. |
Walking Dead prompted my first prepper frenzy. We binged the first I don't know how many seasons, and every night I went to bed thinking "Why the HELL didn't anyone stockpile food???" A few weeks later, the cupboard above the fridge was crammed with my Prepper Pantry. We ended up eating a lot of it last summer, and I donated the rest. Now I'm back to staying awake nights thinking "How much rice do we have? What can we use for coffee creamer that isn't that awful powdered stuff? Canned pineapple isn't that bad, is it?" |
This is what I do before every storm or what have you. I just order more than usual and try to pick things that freeze well. Before Sandy, when we didn't know where it was going to hit, I ordered, pizza, Chinese, Mexican, and Thai and called it a day. I have a similar situation to OP and am not generally nervous, so no interest in piling up bags of beans and rice in my living room. I am buying some backup things for possible corona quarantine, but as someone who orders in a ton, also ordering the extra and freezing! |
| After looking at the miserable horrible coffee creamers in the powder form I can not stand them out there so I can't bring myself to buying this.. I love coffee with milk so plan B.. freezing small store bought pint or quart containers of half and half, worked before will work now. Why did I forget? Milk is already frozen. So all set. Still need to freeze some eggs just in case, I checked the technology, doable. So now the nasty part, actually doing this. Leaving it for the last. We may end up eggless.. if the crown hits the fan... |
Awesome idea. Thanks, did not cross my mind. We always freeze left over pizza as it is too delish to let go but ordering to freeze that is brilliant considering we might need to go without our favorite take outs for a long while, that also will help our favorite places to survive this and not to close due to lack of profit. Support your local business! |
TP .. toilet paper (or sh##t ticket as Australians call it.. ? ) there are tons in Target online and they are giving you 15 bucks gift card if you order 50 bucks goods. Worth looking, the only thing is, nobody know if the stuff will get delivered in time if something were to close us.
Decide for yourself not to end up making "stinky" decision. https://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=toilet+paper |
If you are stashing on rice do you also stockpiling on prunes? I am thinking.. I don't eat much rice because as we know only too well it gives you constipation .. so while this might be good and clean business regarding purchase of TP.. it is not as much fun otherwise. So the prunes help to unload the rice .. So are we stashing on prunes? Do we boil them or eat them dry?.. Prune juice is overkill but one should have some
back up .. in case of .. oh well.. pun intended... back up... |

Update me on TJ status... is there something that is completely out.. I need still couple of things but how are they stocked now?
I am thinking dry fruits and some tuna cans.. are they in stock in Trader Joe's as before or is there some shortage or another.. how are frozen goods there? Lines? Lotsa people shopping now, what time is the best to avoid crowds.. people started shopping in the weird hours right? Trying to avoid crowds.. now they created crowds at different times. how to beat this system in it's own game?

Trader Joe’s has shelf stable heavy cream. Just FYI. |
The price gouging going on there right now is disgusting. |

| Those of you who wouldn't know what to eat if you couldn't order takeout frighten me. |
| I'm curious why people are buying bottled water.... will there be some kind of issue with our water supply? Genuinely curious. |
