Or getting married at all. I would definitely not have kids under this regime and in the current state of healthcare. |

The Justice Department has struggled to meet White House demands to prosecute noncitizen voters as President Trump’s claims of voter fraud lack legal support.
Efforts to investigate have yielded few results, with investigations closing without charges. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/02/20/trump-voting-fraud-justice-department/ Maybe because there isn't widespread voter fraud? |
“The Department of the Interior has struggled to meet White House demands to round up werewolves in the nation’s national parks as President Trump’s claims of attacks lack physical evidence.” |
| Just curious, MAGA folk - What happens if you are successful in eliminating birthright citizenship? At that point, a birth certificate will not suffice. You'll have to prove citizenship of your parentage? What? |
I don’t think disparate impact is sufficient, must also show discriminatory purpose/intent. Also remember that any challenged could end up st Supreme Court and, today’s win regarding tariffs excepted, they have not been very amenable to complaints of discrimination these days! |
PP wasn’t talking about likely SCOTUS rulings. None of what you said changes the fact that this law is discriminatory. |
This is one of the most ridiculous claims ever on DCUM. This is NOT going to disenfranchise women. It has been debunked countless times on this thread, but it does not fit your story board. Women are NOT that dumb--except for the ones who want to believe this is what the SAVE act does. |
Please point to exactly where it was “debunked.” |
1. Birth certificate 2. Marriage Certificate Do you think women do not work or have a Social Security card? Guess what you need to change your name? And, if you don't change your name, there is no need for the marriage certificate. You really think women are not smart enough to present their documents? |
That isn’t debunking. That’s confirming an effort to make it harder for married women to vote. Just as in other shameful parts of our history tests and “taxes” were used to make sure formerly enslaved persons couldn’t vote. Yes, some could afford to pay, or pass the test, but that didn’t make it less a pointed effort to disenfranchise those the people in power deemed lesser. |
You are INCREDIBLY clueless. These forms can be very hard to get, especially people born before the 60s. Originals are hand written. Names are misspelled or inconsistent. Courthouses burn down, taking all the records with them. People are born at home, and their birth records aren't official. And that's not including adoption records, changing names during marriage, etc. If you have your driver's license or state ID, you have been able to get by in life. But if you are robbed or your home burns or floods, your documents can be gone in a heart beat. Or if you end up in a hospital... my dad's wallet disappeared when he was admitted to a nursing home. He wasn't well enough to go to the DMV to get it replaced. This SAVE act is designed to cause pandemonium and make it harder to vote. You are very smug. You will have to learn the hard way... when the MAGA poll worker refuses whatever ID you bring because they think it is fake. Or if the red Secretary of State office refuses to recognize the Hawaiian birth certificate you have. Remember how Trump perpetuated that lie? |
if men don't need these things, why should women? See the problem? |
| Interesting development. Mitch McConnell is not going to let it out of committee for a vote. |
| Given how frail he is, I hope he hangs in there. |
