Good lord. I was married 30 years ago in and born 50 years ago in other states.
I guess I could dig up the marriage certificate. I do have a passport, but all my original documents were destroyed in a move ten years ago. I would have to reapply for the MC and BC certified copies. Yeah, it's a great idea to make this has hard as humanly possible when I have been voting with a license forever and VOTER FRAUD IS NEGLIGIBLE> |
It's easy to think this was accidental but there is no way they didn't intend for this confusion to happen. They just want deniability until its a done deal. They need to give Susan Collins and her ilk cover. "i had no idea i was voting for the end of democracy." |
Well gee republicans hate women republican women are brain dead |
Also will not be surprised if certain states/jurisdictions raise prices as well as thresholds to obtain these documents - "prove to us that you were married here, then we will release the certificate" etc. |
They're already rolling back programs that allowed libraries and nonprofits to process these document requests for people. They'll be shortening hours, closing satellite offices etc. We've seen the same song and dance around polling places as they've eliminated or restricted early voting in key districts. Republicans are cheaters, preparing to cheat to ensure we never have another democratic election. The idea of changing course to actually appeal to voters is just too crazy. They've decided to dismantle our democracy instead. |

If this passes, it’s another step away from protecting privacy rights. It also undermines federalism and massively expands the federal government.
Surprising the GOP would support this given its virulent rejection of HR1 “for the people” in 2021 on the grounds that it would…. wait for it…. federalize elections! But now it’s a problem??? |
| Strange how the party that won the House, Senate and White House is claiming widespread voter fraud. |
Then make men present their marriage verification if their wives changed their names so men can vote |
| I guess women will just have to stop changing their name. |
THIS. |
They only claim voter fraud when they lose. And the only way they can win is by making it difficult for the majority of people to vote |
+1. Putting in measures that disproportionately disenfranchise only women is discriminatory. |
