Even before NBC News picked it up, my best friend's local news in Grand Rapids, MI reported on it. She used to live in Loudoun and hearing that during the broadcast made her do a doubletake.

It’s even a bigger story in DR. A lot of coverage. Again you never see missing people in resorts over there. Just hope the family gets some closure. For me there’s just two options. She drowned or the american tourist killed her.

Why? You may have missed some posts way up thread about alcohol from certain areas on the resorts or something. Here's a CNN story about Americans who died in DR since 2018:

2019/06/19/us/dominican-republic-list-of-people-reported-dead/index.html

If the family was so important they would be sending their daughter to the Ritz Carlton and NOT a dump in the the DR.

Perhaps it was mentioned somewhere in reports, but how do you know her parents sent her? Couldn't those students have earned the money and gone on their own and informed their parents they are going?

Common?

the blackout is SOOO sketchy

It’s not. It’s happened before. They have a backup generator.

Idk what’s taking so long to find her in the waters. The longer it takes the more i suspect the us citizen killed her.

First of all it's water. And he is not responsible for some drunk girl he just met at the resort. No mater that he is from the the us.

I’ll bite. Who are her parents?

Have a bad feeling about this huge guy, could be another Natalie Holloway.

Claiming she was not seen out of water and that she was, which is it? If he saw her after the water, where is she?!!!

Well, her "friends" aren't much better.

We need to do a better job teaching kids how to identify who your friends are and how to be better friends. I feel terrible for this family. Tragic.

Who are you to judge that?

Well, let's see...They hadn't seen their friend since around 4:00 a.m. and didn't know where she was in a foreign country but thought they'd just go on a day trip?!

Day trip? Source of that info? or an online/print gossip?

Posters have been asking how is this family "important" as one poster keeps repeating they are important and that others must be American if it's not understood that they are important.

How were they going to reach her if 1. She didn't have her phone on her, 2. Or they tried reaching her but she didn't pick up maybe because they thought she was still sleeping or with that guy? 3. Things werent known at time of them going on a day trip? Didn't read all the reports to know if any of those questions were answered.

Was the guy known to them on that trip prior to that night? One of the young woman's friend could have stayed with her tho on the beach (being a better friend). Does anyone actually know what occurred before the friends left to go back to the hotel and her staying on beach?

Ok, she went swimming at 5:30am. Left her clothes and phone on a lounger as one does to go swimming. In no way was she informing the front desk. She is an adult. Having fun, with a new friend on spring break.

They did eventually inform hotel front desk, didn't they? When they realized she wasn't around and they hadn't heard from her. If they shared a room, maybe they saw her phone still in her room but not her?

What? Didn't reports say her phone was left in her room? Does that mean she made it back to her room left phone there and then "left" or "disappeared."? Or did she give her friends the phone to take back to the room when she decided to hang out longer on the beach? Or did she never have the phone with her that night/morning when they went out dancing as a group so phone was always in the room? Does anyone actually know?

How do YOU know how this will turn out? They believe friends arent suspects but the guy is, what about the other guy with him?

The other guy and the other girls were seen on camera leaving the beach together. The wrestling guy was seen on camera leaving the beach 4 hours later. She was never captured on camera leaving the beach.

Her friends should have told the front desk before going anywhere.
