It's weird how people are simultaneously driving like maniacs on Georgia Avenue and Georgia Avenue is already effectively a two lane road because of all the double parking. You DDOT people need to get your stories straight. It's clear you haven't spent much time on Georgia. |
I didn’t see double parking but my guess is that happens during peak hours and actually has a positive side effect of slowing down traffic. |
It's pretty clear you've never actually set foot on Georgia. People *constantly* change lanes because of all the left turns and double parking. Remind me: Is it safer when cars constantly and abruptly switch lanes or is it better if people move in predictable ways? |
Maybe our streets (and laws) should be designed in ways that avoid shifting the burden of accountability from four-year-olds to motorists?
|
So you’re saying double parking is bad? the bus priority project will include adding turn lanes and will likely reduce double parking (b/c they’ll get ticketed if they double park in the bus lane and likely won’t double park in the travel lane.) |
Guess what … DDOT bus priority projects also look at eliminating stops to increase efficiency. Of course the deranged NIMBY in my neighborhood spun up a wild conspiracy theory about why a bus stop had been removed. As for ridership I already posted the stats about Georgia Ave. Makes perfect sense to try to improve it. |
