Good question? I am also incredibly disapointed that Evan Glass is supporting this. This housing will not go towards housing teachers, cops, firefighters... I gave money to his campaign and regret that-- he paid lip service to ensuring affordable housing. He has lost my vote.

He seems like a good guy, really. I wonder if he genuinely thought that people wanted this and that it is a good idea.

Now that the council members have a little more information we will see how they vote. If at this point they still vote for the changes as proposed we know that the fix was in. If they are smart they will put together a much more reasonable version for review, and vote on that.

He is a good guy when you agree with him, I suppose. He tends to ignore you, otherwise.

I don't think he thinks that people, broadly, want it, but that he thinks he's right and that it is OK to push it anyway, in a castor oil or wash your mouth out with soap kind of way.

Glass is pretty petty and vindictive and thinks he’s much smarter than he actually is. He would be a nightmare as CE.

Should we be voting against term limits on the ballot so that we can keep Elrich? He seems to at least get it when it comes to this subject.

No one could possibly want that.

Careful what you wish for, it could end up being a current council member.

I'll take any of them over Elrich.

Has Glass gone on record anywhere as supporting? Or anyone other than Friedson for that matter? Sincere question.

Only Friedson and Fani-Gonzalez. Friedson at all the listening sessions and Fani-Gonzalez at the one in her district, where should told her constituents that she didn’t care if they opposed it.

Yeah, on this issue in particular, Elrich is aligned with the interests of his constituents. I’m glad he’s at the helm and because he's been a vocal opponent to this crazy proposal, I’ll be voting for him again.

It's odd you want to vote for him over something he doesn't have any authority. Did you like his covid shutdowns, too?

Dear fellow petitioners,

We (myself and several neighbors) have asked our Delegates in Annapolis to introduce and support the enactment of an amendment to the MD Code that would prevent municipalities in Maryland from amending a zoning law to authorize residential uses other than single-family housing in residential areas zoned for single-family housing without first obtaining approval from the qualified voters of any jurisdiction that is covered by such an amendment.

In other words, we'd like voters to have a say in any proposal that would allow duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes (or any other forms of housing other than single-family housing) in neighborhoods currently zoned for single-family housing.

Email me at jlavorel@outlook.com to indicate whether (and how) you would like to be included in our interactions with our elected officials in Annapolis.

I’m not the PP, but I am the one he was replying to.

But, yes…?

Was there something unique about that version of shutdowns?

Unless are asking if i dont agree with the shutdowns at all, and the answer to that is no. Elrich seemed to believe in both quarantines and vaccines, and I do too.

Not terribly relevant to this argument.

If they literally are pro-fraud and anti-affordable housing (but pro "attainable-for-only developers, so that they can exploit/attain max profit from), and/or just wanna be owed by developers/virtue signal for something they're not even doing, what difference will it make?

Oh, and why is Potomac exempt? Who made sure that happened?

I don’t have an answer for the reason Potomac is exempt. There are parts of the county that have municipal laws that keep them safe from this zoning proposal. That makes this proposal inherently inequitable.

But please do write and call your council members. They are counting on your silence and / or that you won’t know about what is being proposed. Take 5 minutes once a week and let your council people know you care about your community, you vote, and you expect they will stand for their constituents and NOT developers.

Large portions of Potomac are zoned RE (Residential Estate) as opposed to R, and, conveniently, only the R zones are being considered for the zoning text ammendment. The Thrive-defined growth corridor for River Road conveniently ends at the Beltway, where the other growth corridors extend far beyond the Beltway.

You may want to add "county" to that language. As written it would have no effect on what MoCo can and can't do.

He certainly didn’t take up the YImBY philosophy of letting everyone decide what’s best for them like some selfish twit, he understood that some things have to be done for the common good.

They forgot the word "exclusively". Residential areas zoned EXCLUSIVELY for single-family housing.

It's nonsense, anyway. Voters already have a say - by electing the members of the County Council.
