Abiding by forum rules is good manners and respectful to others. It also makes it much easier to discuss topics coherently. |
It is only doomed if we let it. Say she wins this year and does 4 or 8 years. Hopefully by then the MAGA wing of the GOP will subside and we can get back to something more familiar for most of us. The GOP needs to shed the Evangelicals and "basket of deplorables" and get back to their meat and potatoes. |
Never had an abortion, never will, but I’ll be damned if I sit idly by while my daughters are threatened by these crazy laws. This is a hill I will die on.
- grandma for choice |
I met her once. She is wonderful. |
+1. PROMs and ectopic pregnancies are often not an imminent risk when discovered. These states wait until the woman is septic or ruptured, because her life isn’t at risk until then. Even though these pregnancies are no. And will need abortion care at some point. But when it’s legal to provide that care is a grey area. Because if a prosecutor eager to burnish his federalist society bona fides disagrees and thinks the MD aported too soon, they could go to jail for life. It’s why the coalition of women are suing in TX. Their lives were saved by abortions— often out of state. But the delay in care from when it is was known their life would be at risk once the ectopic ruptures or the PROMs became septic and when the actual rupture of sepsis happened caused them permanent bodily harm and destroyed their fertility. |
So Harris, who has served at every level of government, including a stint as the AG for the state of California and serving in the US Senate, is somehow less qualified than a white male fail son who went bankrupt running legal casinos.
Yeah, OK. |
+1. They were life fighting women out every single week for abortion care to save their lives because they could abort and save their lives in Idaho. Unless you think they life flight people whose lives aren’t at risk? |
+1 Independent, in menopause, who worries for her DD Every man with a wife and/or daughter should be worried for them if they love them. |
+1. This terrifies me. And I’m a lawyer. Because I know if I had an MD client, I would have to advise them to never abort, no matter how dire. Because a someone like e with no medical training could second guess them— and not fine them, or ask the state medical board to review— but prosecute them for murder. When someone is “at risk” is too vague. You may know it when you see it. But you can’t trust the federalist society prosecutor to interpret it the same way you did. Plus, I know lawyers should absolutely not be making these calls. We are in no way qualified. |
So you admit you do not listen to her, but that she is not talking about the economy even though people point out she is. Got it! |
She was a prosecutor, California AG and a senator and has spent 4 years being VP. She has just as much experience and accomplishment as any other candidate. We also once had someone who was likely the most accomplished and prepared candidate in 2016, yet she still lost thanks to a couple thousand votes in 3 states. I will take our chances rather than Republican's this time around. |
Cool, now do trump. |

Remember this? Obama didn’t pass an abortion rights law in 2009 . He said it was not a priority. Dems are poor planners and listeners and were so cocky they never thought the SC would swing right . They should blame themselves for not making Roe v Wade law when they had multiple administrations and chances to do so. |
We try! Biden has been bending over backwards for unions and what do they do, they go support the Rs who hate them. What do you do with that? |
Let’s also note that Trump is more pro choice than Joe Biden . Joe Biden once voted to allow states to overturn Roe v Wade.
Bet you never heard that on CNN https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/29/us/politics/biden-abortion-rights.html |
