Kamala Harris for President

Staffers in Harris’ office have reported a toxic work environment since 2021, when The Washington Post spoke with 18 individuals in Harris’ orbit. Descriptions ranged from “uncomfortable” to “soul-destroying.”

“One of the things we’ve said in our little text groups among each other is what is the common denominator through all this and it’s her,” former Harris aide and Democrat strategist Gil Duran told the Post. Back in 2013, after just five months of working for Harris, he quit. “Who are the next talented people you’re going to bring in and burn through and then have [them] pretend they’re retiring for positive reasons.”

Others said Harris blamed staff for her lack of preparation.

“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work,” a former anonymous staffer told the Post. “With Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully and it’s not really clear why.”

And Trump’s former employees are in prison, suing him for unpaid bills. And campaigning for the Democrats.

Workplace culture is going to be what you vote on?

After she got a new Chief of Staff, that all changed. Haven't heard a peep since.

There are rumors Trump is already regretting his VP choice JD Vance and his misogyny . That could hurt Trump with voters namely undecided women

55% of white women voted for Trump in 2016. He’s good.

And he only pulled 42% in 2020. He ain't got this.

And that was before Dobbs

You realize that millions of women agree with Dobbs, right?

The Dems don’t know how to read the room. They can’t fathom that most Americans agree that federal dollars shouldn’t fund abortion and abortion should be left to the states and banned after the first few months.

The Dems are crazy and think most of the country agrees abortion should be federal law and made legal even to the 9th month if need be. Most Americans do not agree with the Democrats about abortion at all

No one wants abortion at nine months except to save the mother’s life.

As for the rest of it, that may be true. But it isn’t what happened/is happening post-Dobbs. The question is how do they feel about what we got, which is which is a wide swath of red states banning abortions at 6 weeks (not a few months) when many women don’t even know they were pregnant (2 weeks post first missed period, assuming a regular cycle, which many women don’t have), without exceptions for things like rape, incest, non viable fetuses and the mothers health? Because if you think what we actually have in red states, so that’s the R position. Not a more moderate few months with exceptions thing. And we know how they feel, because even the reddest states are rejecting these laws when citizens are able to get abortion protection on the ballot.

You’re stuck with what you are actually doing. Not what people wanted. I’m not the one who needs to read the room. You want exception? You want 12 or 15 weeks. Then do that instead of what you have done.

Can we stop with this nonsense? No one is performing abortions at 9 months. If a mother's life is at risk they'll deliver the baby. This idea that any doctor is aborting a 9 month baby is ludicrous. The reason many pro-choice people are against a ban at any point in the pregnancy is because we don't believe the decision should be up to anyone other than a woman and her doctor. It doesn't mean people are getting abortions in the 9th month of their pregnancy. How absurd.

I'm a liberal, lawyer, woman, South Asian, who was raised by hard-working immigrant parents. I was emotional when Obama was inaugurated. I will cry happy, happy tears if I get to see Harris get inaugurated too. I can't wait to vote for her.

Let's WIN this!!!

I kinda feel sorry for MAGAS. They were so cocky until Sunday, talking about landslides and whatnot. I guess they’re still waiting for the new talking points.

You can read her website since you clearly have internet access. But to sum up why I’ll be voting for her— she’s running on protecting my right and the rights of my daughters and nieces to access healthcare and not bleed to death in bathrooms or land in the ICU because we’ve been denied basic care.

How is she going to do that? It's a state-by-state basis after Dobbs, and she as president will have no control over the states that have stripped the rights of your daughters and nieces. She isn't Congress and the president isn't a monarch. What is she going to do? The rights are already stripped - Democrats whom I voted for let that happened when they refused to codify Roe.

It's a serious question. How is she going to do that?

We’re hoping that Thomas and Alito kick the bucket so she can appoint new SCOTUS and change the balance again.

Her platform is “hope two people die while my party controls the Senate”?

You can’t be serious.

And, again, as someone who votes for Dems…the conservatives are smart enough to time their justices’ retirements. Unlike RBG.

Seriously, for the party of constitutional democracy, pushing through this nominee without an open convention and then making a bunch of empty promises that cannot materialize under the constitution, this is sending quite the message.

If you want moderates to stay home in November, this is a great way to do it.

Like I’ve said, you’ve got the internet, read her website.

For me, for my husband, for every parent of a daughter I know, it would be sufficient to vote against Trump to protect our bodies and our children. You want more? Start reading.

Protect from what? Look at the state of this country and the world after 4 years of democrats running things.

Losing their mother when a wanted pregnancy goes septic?

Losing their fertility when an ectopic pregnancy isn’t treated?

Eighteen years of child support for our boys when a college hookup gets pregnant and can’t terminate?

And god forbid— a lifetime connection to a rapist if one of our daughters is denied an abortion. Rapists do not lose parental rights.

No thank you.

Nice fear-mongering.
Guess this is the most important issue to you. The right to kill a fetus.

Most of us are more concerned with the daily challenges that the Democrats have brought to our country.

NP. Emergencies happen during pregnancy ALL THE TIME. I had an emergency surgery during my first trimester… these laws around abortion make doctors hesitate and keep their hands tied and it’s scary. The fetus can’t have more rights than the mother.

In which state is abortion illegal when the life of the mother is at risk?

Have you ever heard of a woman named Kate Cox?

Answer my question. In which state is abortion illegal when the life of the mother is at risk? Anecdotes don't count.

Here is the answer to your question. Which is some states require a certainty a woman will die without it and make a woman deteriorate until it is certain she will die. And MDs won’t perform any abortions because if they perform them too soon and the woman isn’t close enough to dead, some conservative prosecutor eager to make a name for themselves will charge them with murder.

If you actually care about the problem or don’t understand it, this is an excellent analysis. It also explains why Idaho was life flighting dying women out of the state, rather than performing abortions during the EMLTA litigation.

In case you actually care about the issue, learn something.

This is almost identical to the criticism of Amy Klobuchar that torpedoed her presidential ambitions… isn’t it interesting that these articles about ambitious women come out saying they are meanies and their staff doesn’t like them? Such a mystery!

Also, her staff SHOULD be preparing her, she’s the principal, if she’s not prepared, it IS their fault. Anyone who worked with a political knows this.

Isn't it funny how we only hear of staff turnover when it applies to women? :sarcasm:

This thread should be saved because once she gets elected everyone will hate her. She has a record of incompetence and when your own staff is disloyal you have innate probs.

GOP will be strong in '28 for sure. They will kill the Dems. We may delay a few years MAGA from taking over but Kamala is not the savior all believe. She is the best sub for Biden and I suppose the one that is most logical and convenient. She's a woman and diversity candidate. She's right person right time. No bearing on whether she's actually going to be a good fit. I'm very pessimistic and sad she's the only one we have. On so many levels the Dems deserve their debacle having gone with Biden Kamala. Foresight is wisdom which the Dems truly lack.

Our country is doomed. Maybe not in 24 but certainly long term.

Agree. It's a stop gap. Hopefully I'll be wrong, but feeling pessimistic long term, since Dems clearly aren't evolving.

When was it required that woman HAD to have kids. Every single black woman who ascends are told that they were DEI hires. Ketanji Brown Jackson, a judge who had more experience than any other justice when they joined the court was completely disrespected. She has turned out to be amazing.

For all those who thought that black men were moving to Trump, the Rs couldn't help help themselves but to be horrible which is why 54,000 black men were on a call last night in support. They don't even like her, but Rs went after her.

I thought the zoom call only supported 40K?

The women’s call Sunday night ended up with 44K. Not sure about the men’s.

There was a black men's call on zoom, too?

Yup. “After a Sunday night organizing call led by Black women had record attendance and fund-raising, a group of Black men organized a similar call on Monday evening. More than 40,000 attended and raised roughly $1.3 million for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, according to organizers of the group, Win With Black Men.”

Actually 54,000 men participated.

That is awesome!! I'm wondering though, if black men, many of whom are socially conservative, would not be happy with a black (part) women as POTUS. I know that Trump already has a decent size support of black men. Hoping a black female doesn't make more move to that column, though the zoom call gives me some hope.

Hundred bucks says exit polls will show that Trump won’t have any more black men voting for him in 2024 than he did last time or the time before that, although I recognize that there’s been a constant media drumbeat indicating that he will.

They really seem lost. Is it Laughing Kamala or cat-lady? Are we talking "abortion on demand" or "most americans want some restrictions"? Is she incompetent or a vicious prosecutor who put innocent black men in jail???

It’s a key issue for many democrats.

You want to stop hearing about the women bleeding out in bathrooms? The babies dying in their parents arms? Fix your bad policies.

Donald Trump is dangerous to women. If you’d like that talking point to go away, get him on the campaign trail promising to restore Roe.

Also agree. Democrats may squeak through this cycle because Trump is such an awful candidate. But until Democrats learn to listen and represent the concerns of working class families I don't see a great future for the party. When the Republican Party is seen as the party of the working class you have a major branding problem. And Kamala Harris is not fixing that.
