+1. I really dont understand the confusion over why the agent would ask for a nude photo of her. It’s such a weird assumption to think it was somehow requested for the agents pleasure. They are posing as child molesters and rapists and communicating with real molesters and rapists. They are operating in a terrible and bizarre world where they need to come off as legit. Totally believable that these creeps would be swapping photos of themselves as well as kids. Plus, it’s good to have photos of her body to compare with any images and recordings they might find. Is pp seriously concerned this woman was victimized? She willingly sent a naked photo to a “man” in an effort to get him excited to rape his “daughter” with her present. gtfo

It's interesting that Hoppe, someone with a background working for lawyers and coming from a family of prominent lawyers, would waive her Miranda rights and make any kind of a statement to the FBI. The statements she made were provably false and it's a crime to make false statements to the FBI. I think this will add additional jail time to a 10 year plus sentence.

I think you are the one missing the point. Unlike your "99.99999999% of child sexual abuse cases" this one *did* make the news and yet the local and big papers aren't picking it up. I am sure they will eventually, but what's causing the delay? In the particulars of the case of her arrest, there isn't a real child so no privacy to protect. So why aren't eh local Richmond papers publishing the story? or the gossipy papers that love a sordid tale? That is what people are wondering.

PP here. I still think of people engaging in these types of behaviors as being mentally disturbed, mentally ill, etc. I think our laws are allowing far too many mentally ill individuals to remain free of longterm hospitalization. In this case, she'll likely wind up in prison.

It would be weird to be pretending to be a child rapist and NOT want some kind of assurance. And just because someone asks you for a picture of your boob doesn't mean you have to send one. There has been a story on the Charlottesville CBS website and an article on the RTD website from another source. This has not been mentioned on any local Richmond tv stations at all. It is surprising because the family has strong Richmond connections, there are not many female child predators and generally white female predators DO make the news. Think of all the stories of the white female teachers having sexual relationships with high school students.

Also, no Wash Post, WTOP, etc. These outlets report tons of stories out of Charlottesville.

I do find this unusual.

White mom suburban housewife arrested for child porn and attempted sexual exploitation pretty much screams news headline, and definitely above the local level!

Plus, tons of visuals of her all over the place so it’s a pretty easy story to tell. Go to Warrenton and do your standup in front of the motel.

Not really. Do you know how many terrible things actually happen to children every day, up to and including torture and murder? This is an extremely salacious story but no actual children were harmed. It’s main interest is local. At most you can expect coverage from the yellow press like NY Post and possibly some kind of C list Dateline show.
