You're on every thread for every school district. Wacko.

I don’t care about other school districts. I live in MoCo. But seeing what’s happening in VA makes me excited. Let’s goooooo, MCPS! Normalcy for kids is long overdue!!

It's so funny that its only the PARENTS who cant handle masks. The kids are just fine. It's the adults who long for "normalcy" (whatever that even means), because they are the ones who cant adapt to change. Ridiculous.

+ I asked my kids if masks were onerous and they laughed. They aren’t bothered by them.

It's mostly an issue for the far-right extremists.

Probably because your kids don’t wear them while the eat with friends at school lunch, or at sports practices or when they go over to friends houses, or do carpool. All these things defeat the whole Must Mask! Requirement. Ergo - do away with the useless rules and require vaccinations to attend school.

It's mostly an issue for the far-right extremists.

Folks, this is not a bad thing. This means things are getting better.

But they aren’t. Next variant has already reared it’s ugly head and is on it’s way.

This is your dream right come true right? I can see the smile on your face as you are typing.

Masks are dropping. Sane folks are moving on. Doesn’t matter if/when there is another variant. Buckle up buttercup.

Yep, until the next even more deadly surge happens in a few weeks.

Please elaborate.

Fingers crossed, right? Let’s keep hoping there is another one.

Idiot.

Agreed. I mean its always subject to change but I'll take what I can get for now.

On one hand, I'm not happy that these loony parents will influence their children to unmask. I'm sympathetic to their children, who are innocent. It's wrong and unethical.

On the other hand, more and more I'm starting to see this as a process that sometimes you need to just let the lemmings run off the cliff. On the bright side, these kids will be the canary in the coal mine to let me know when it's dangerous and to pull the kids from school? But I'll make sure that my kids have plenty of extra N95's so that their kids can sneak wearing them at school (so at least their parents will never find out). It is what it is.

You think kids will sneak wearing masks at school? Somehow I think its the opposite. If schools go mask optional - I think kids will end up taking them off at school and you won't even know.

You know what? With the low numbers right now, I'm going to choose to be optimistic. I mean obviously a more severe variant may come - but I would hate to live in constant negativity. I just couldn't handle it.

Yup already happening!

Even Leana Wen from far left CNN is saying it should be up to the family, not school system, whether to mask their children. It is shifting whether you like it or not.

I'm afraid not - that's a very narrow view of what is going on.

Kids not indoctrinated with their Dem parents’ moronic views that masks are game changers in the Covid battle are fully aware that masks are not normal. And like every other kid takes the mask off at every opportunity.

The covid forever types won't quit lol.

Not really, I just believe that anyone who thinks it's okay to not wear a mask with full knowledge it could kill, is evil to the core.

I wear a mask both for protection as well as courtesy and compassion for others - something that, I know, you're incapable of.

Wait. What? You think kids not wearing masks in school will kill people? Where are you getting your news?

This is a #2.

1. Associate temporary virtual learning with "closing schools"
2. Convince others to drop all covid protections (masks, vaccines, etc.) even if the pandemic is ongoing
3. Downplay any indication that MCPS is the source of covid outbreaks (ex. unmasking in school cafeterias)
4. Associate covid is the same as the flu (and downplay any associated effects to hospitals, teachers, elderly, etc.)
5. Blame anyone except MCPS for policy issues (no responsibility)
6. Convince others that unconditional in-person-learning-only (no temporary virtual at all during covid spikes or if a child is in quarrantine) supporters are greater than 5% (at least according to the January poll)
7. Make fake associations to the false data with credible / reputable sources to give the themes credibility (ex. the sources never said that or it was wildly exaggerated)
8. Ensure compromise suggestions such as a hybrid solution are deleted or discredited.

Also, I would read this https://thermtide.com/15899/news/mcps-covid-19-dashboard-lacks-adequate-updates/

The MCPS Covid dashboard isn't even trustworthy?

Covid is a democrat-led conspiracy to kill off Republicans.

So Hogan is make a COVID statement at 1pm today and if he drops the statewide school mask mandate (which I expect he will given his neighboring states), what will compel MCPS to follow this? He'll leave it up to localities and we'll be the last to fall in line. sigh.
