How is this even open to interpretation? SJP’s own dating life is even more impressive than her character’s.

SJP had natural charisma and a charming personality and just exudes happiness and positivity, and people are just drawn to people like that. Apparently a lot of women resent that. It’s mind-boggling.

It's always been that way. Most men rather have the fun average looking woman.

I can't believe any of you guys think she's average looking! But yeah of course people would rather spend time with someone fun.

I guess if your ideal is the quiet WASP, then sure. But it's not mine and I think she looked (and still looks) fantastic.

That hair tho! I’m so envious of it. I have stick straight WASP hair; would give anything for riotous curls.

So bad - no one fashionable had that kid of hair at the time. It looked very 80's and the only other NY women who would wear big curls (on the top of her head too!) was equally annoying and weird Elaine from Seinfeld.

Careful, your anti-semitism is showing.

FFS, you can’t possibly be serious.

Hahaha. Yep there's always one that pulls the fake card to try and shut you down!

She looks great and funny Elaine from Seinfeld was also very pretty. I forgot about her. Most would love to have that hair then and today!

Julianna Margulies nabbed George Clooney in the 90s with a head full of curls

Then she wore wigs to hide them on The Good Wife, because the show didn’t think her character was someone who would have curly hair.

She gets so many compliments from males as well but still feels pressure to have flat straight hair as some impossible transcendent beauty standard. She wants my lick straight hair while I adore her flamboyant curls.

Someone needs to start a rival thread that the men in Carrie Bradshaw’s dating life were not good looking enough to date her (although character wise they may have been perfectly suited)….

As Carrie got older she changed her hair style which made her look older. She looks better with medium wavy hair, but age is age and all of them are up there now.

Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman look stunning when they let their natural curls shine. Nicole's hair in that recent HBO series (blanking on the name) with Hugh Grant was gorgeous.

Was anyone else thinking when watching the plastic surgeon's office scene with Anthony, "damn. if I were SJP, I would write that Carrie gets the facelift in the script..and have the work paid for and the recovery, etc., part of the show ! Then- 'hey. I had the surgery for my art'.

I have blonde (highlighted) curly hair and I get compliments all the time from people who want and can't have curly hair. I resemble SJP and in my late 20s, I started wearing my natural curl to look more like her and guys loved that. They love curly hair--touching curly hair, running their hands through the curls. Not sure what all the curly haters on here are referring to. Jeez

SJP has natural beauty, Footloose, Honeymoon in Vegas. She has also a special star quality that has endured through her career. Sure, she could eat a biscuit but I just don't get the hater posters.

I forgot Honeymoon in Vegas. She was actually very pretty, but yes she had it all. Why men were attracted to her.

I don't love her, she kinda annoys me... but... I think she looked beautiful in "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun".
SJP, Helen Hunt and a 12 year old Shannon Doherty were so young, fresh faced & adorable.

For some reason I can only post one photo at a time, so here's a few more.

All if these were from Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Nicole Kidman notoriously always wears a wig in her films/series, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that her hair looked great!

Wow. She was really beautiful when younger!

I like this answer. So many women and girls look like clones these days.

Yeah, I was going to comment that also: it was a wig. So her WIG looked great.

Utterly untrue. Women had style, just not style that fit within your narrow brand parameters.

We all went to sample sales and had options from every designer, plus vintage. As for hair...

Women were allowed to have curly hair that wasn't blonde. Shocking for you, I realize.

Sigh... I love you.

You have no idea -- you really don't.
You just brought me back to such a wonderful time of my life with the mere mention of those two glorious little words... "sample sale".

The garment district was such a delicious playground.

I truly didn't appreciate how beneficial it was being a sample size at the time (especially to my bank account!) because life a fool, at that moment in my life I thought I'd be a sample size forever.

Ahhhh, what a dummy! 🤣

On this day, when my life resembles NOTHING of my past self, I say thank you.

Thank you for giving me this delectable moment of fleeting reminisce. ❤

My 2 cents is that SJP looks very sexual and this is enough to release the DCUM's harpies. She's that naughty girl who stole their HS boyfriend. Below is DCUM's favorite look - a refined classical beauty, who opens her legs only three times for reproductive purposes only.

She really doesn't look very sexual, at least not more sexual than Kim Cattrall character. No one accused KC of being ugly or not pretty enough for her dating life. And if you meant that SJP herself looks very sexual, that makes no sense either. Her clothes are not sexy per se and some choices are straight up goofy.

Exactly, I think Kim Cattrall was and is pretty, and seems like a fun, attractive, sexy person. SJP is just ok looking, but her character's personality was so annoying, and I hated many of her fashion choices.

Uhhhh, wha?

I'm not a member of the SJP haters club -- in fact, I've defended her numerous times in this thread, but it has to be said; that first quote is SUCH a bad read.

It had to have been written by a man, because it's totally off base and you're doing her zero favors with that post.
