DP. Nope, that's the truth. I am Jewish, curly haired, and in the 90s NYC, curls were considered not only unfashionable, but also unprofessional - if you had a job that required wearing a suit (as most white collar jobs were), you'd better keep your curls in a bun or a french braid.

She gets so many compliments from males as well but still feels pressure to have flat straight hair as some impossible transcendent beauty standard.
