We just moved to Cheverly and love it, but still have to learn what's available near us. What restaurants would you recommend nearby? We're down with casual, dive, or fancier, but would prefer to support smaller businesses, rather than big chains. Any recommendations, as long as it's delicious and has good service. |
Spice6 in hyattsville |
Jerry's Seafood in Lanham/Seabrook |
Franklin's and Busboys & Poets in Hyattsville |
Definitely Franklins! |
There are some older threads for restaurants in Burtonsville, Route 1, Olney:

And now I am hungry. |
Welcome to Cheverly!! The restaurant choices aren't numerous but we do have some nice places; you mostly have to drive a bit unfortunately, and few restaurants deliver.
Some of our favorites are Franklins, Tara Thai and Spice 6 in Hyattsville. If you don't want to drive anywhere, Fratelli's right up the street across 202 is a quiet spot. For casual/take out try: Taqueria la Placita -- amazing tacos!! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g41199-d4643289-Reviews-Taqueria_La_Placita-Hyattsville_Maryland.html I haven't yet tried it, but near Franklins on the other side of Route 1 there's supposed to be a really nice Senegelese place, Chez Dior. http://www.yelp.com/biz/chez-dior-hyattsville Further up route 1 in College Park, a lot of people like Fishnet. A bit pricy and not much ambiance but delicious! http://www.yelp.com/biz/fishnet-college-park Out 202 near the Wegman's shopping center there's a BBQ place that's pretty good. KBQ BBQ. Again, quite casual. http://www.kbqbbq.com Just a few places I've found! If you are willing to drive further way but don't want to head into DC, I absolutely love Namaste in Crofton! |
I'm sure these are great, but Burtonsville and Olney are really nowhere near Cheverly!! Are you thinking of Cloverly perhaps? |
Nope, I was thinking of Cheverly. I love Busboys and Poets, and if you're willing to drive 15 minutes to Hyattsville whats 15 or so more to Olney or Burtsonville. |
There is a new place opening in Mount Rainier that looks great called Bird Kitchen and Cocktails. Its right on the travel circle.
A few places on the Rhode Island Ave corridor in NE DC, like Nido and Boundary Stone, which is actually in NW. |
Not the op, but what??? You are still confused. Olney is up by Gaithersburg. Cheverly is near bladensburg...PG County???? I'm pretty sure it takes almost an hour to get between the two. |
I was confused too but I googled it and it's only 31 minutes. |
