The grass is actually greener when you look. Have your kid get ID with the other clubs first or second teams to get a sense on where he/she belongs. Get a feel for the practices and Coaches effort. Then you can decide. |
Valor would be a step back for any GFR coach |
False premise, GFR just fine and disgruntled coaches have alternatives closer to home. |
Didnt that one coach go from GFR to Valor last year? Heard he was telling people that GFR was stealing money, etc. |
I think that guy is alreadt gone from valor |
Nah he’s there. See him in their camp posts unless he just left. |
yeah that's so disrespectful I was so disappointed when I heard him speaking spanish to the team (AND cussing with horrible foul language), I kinda turned to the other parents to see if they'd understood and it's like everyone froze |
that's literally what Valor does, not only it's a violation of NCSL rules but it's also so disrespectful to all the kids and parents that want to have a fair game |
|
Someone a couple of pages back attested his/her club (not Valor) did the same thing and that it’s common practice among many other clubs. But those determined to hate Valor still posting as if this is a thing exclusive to Valor.
|
Annnnnd a whole lot of other parents chimed in stating its NOT common at many other local clubs. |
My dc played against top team players and then trained with them in HP Elite and other private academies. Then saw those same top team players guest playing for their clubs’ second team in tournaments. Yes it is common practice in other clubs. But believe what you want but don’t expect people not to call you out on spreading false narratives. |
I think they are referring one, maybe two kids, but not substituting the entire roster like 3-4 kids. If thats the case, it’s just obnoxious from other posts mentioning it happened during a tournament here. |
Did he see them guest playing for the club's fourth team? Just wondering, b/c I think that is what Valor is doing. |
On paper they are separate but the COI's are nonstop. The admins for Valor are also admins for CYA and SYA. The turf fields, under the SYA/CYA banner are give the the clubs first and IF there is any space left, a Rec team may get a slot, otherwise, they are relegated to shitty grass fields. The Director of Coaching at SYA is a Valor coach as well. There has been a big push within SYA to create an Academy program for the Rec kids who don't want to go to Valor but it has fallen on deaf ears. As a result, several very well-liked coaches will be leaving Rec to form their own independent club teams through VISTA. While CYA does allow their 11U and 12U kids to play NCSL-Rec (SFL), CYA does not forcing everyone to continue to play in the house league. What are you going to do?? People move on and nothing changes and then everyone comes here to complain about the same issues that happen over and over. It's a good business model for them because there are more wide-eyed parents every year to fill the slots and write the $3500 checks. |
Wasn’t Valor trying to do some kind of Valor Lite thing at one point for like $1500? Did that ever take off? I guess not? |
