Assuming next year, haven't seen any posts on anyone leaving. GRF is falling apart, maybe they are trying to attract some coaches from there. I am glad they seem to be starting that process earlier this year.

False premise, GFR just fine and disgruntled coaches have alternatives closer to home.
Didnt that one coach go from GFR to Valor last year? Heard he was telling people that GFR was stealing money, etc.

Yeah, he was basically asked to leave GFR actually - the parents of the kids on his team complained about him constantly so he wasn't going to be given another contract. He only got work bc he's RP's cousin or something and once RP was out of GFR he knew to look elsewhere.

This coach drove multiple players away from his teams at Valor.

If we’re talking about SA who changed to IA, yes can confirm.

Certainly talks out of both sides of his mouth. Are there any teams with good retention rates?

Yes and bad mouths players to other parents. Creates this environment where you wonder what he is saying about your kid to other people.

Exactly this. Lost all respect after witnessing this. So unprofessional. Also, he will take all the credit if one of his teams is doing well, but if they’re not, it’s everyone else’s fault.

Well he only coached 2 teams last year and most of his teams came back. Players from GFR also followed him to valor this year

Well, I guess those kids’ parents are unaware that he has talked badly about their children to other parents. Or maybe they think that behavior is just fine and participate in it. Either way, not a team I would want my child on.

"Only" 2 teams? Thats a normal workload.

What do you mean "came back", hasn't he only been at Valor this year? Was he there last year?

Last year at Valor he did have two teams, about 26 players across boys and girls. About 10 players left across those two teams, so a 60% retention rate. And no, these players weren’t cut, they had offers to return and chose not to. Unaware if any players came from GFR, seems unlikely.

I could see boys coming from GFR just because their pre-ECNL boys teams seemed to really fall apart for whatever reason. We know a few GFR families through other activities, including at least one who chose to go to a second team at another club rather than stay on the first team at GFR.

And yes, important to note that players who left were not ones that were at risk of being cut or demoted.

I just looked up his teams. His girls team went 7-2-1 in the fall, they are 2nd in the league. For all the shade being thrown on the board, he seems to have done a pretty good job. If players left, maybe they weren't good enough to be there.

Yeah they had a good league season, tourneys not so much. Their strength of schedule was mediocre in the fall, so hopefully they can continue the success in the spring. The kids declined offers with his team but nice try trying to throw shade at 10/11 year olds.

No one is throwing shade. Just saw the valor board blowing up, saw that it was multiple pages of throwing shade at one of the coaches. Looked the coach up, saw his team looked like I was fine. Decided to comment maybe it's just parents with butthurt feelings.

You’re the one who keeps bringing up how these kids “made the team but declined offers” ok buddy give it a rest. You felt slighted by a coach, happens to a lot of families at different clubs every single season. You said your peace about not liking a coach. Just focus on your DD and her new team and not focusing on this valor thread.

DP. I think this brings up a larger issue of which is more important — a winning record or having your child around a coach who is at least somewhat of a decent role model. Do you put or keep your kid on a team if you know the coach is saying things that can be damaging to kids, and/or talking about kids to other adults? If it’s not being directed at your kid do you overlook it or do you get them out of that environment? I think parents put up with too much crap from sports coaches when part of the reason they are doing sports is the life lessons. I guess if you’re convinced your kid will get a scholarship you just deal with whatever the coaches are dishing out and maybe feel like there is no choice. But isn’t it our job as parents to at least try to put our kids in a positive environment? I don’t think being a good coach and a good person have to be mutually exclusive, but so many seem to accept mean and outright abusive coaches just to be on certain teams.
