There is zero reason for Meghan to be there.

There are two concrete claims in that article amidst a bunch of sensationalized assumptions

1) Meghan will be at the unveiling, which seems like a good and normal thing
2) Lilibet will not be making the trip, which to me is actually a little surprising

Huh? The title of the article says Meghan is not going.

Well, in something I find ENTIRELY unsurprising the ENTIRE CONTENTS of that article has changed since I read it an hour ago. Because whatever they published was corrected almost immediately because they made it up.

No joke, an hour ago that article said those two things.

He is a Hollywood blue-collar type who would likely stand out like a sore thumb in Royal crowds. Meghan knew this, and dreaded introducing him to her new family. Luckily for her, he couldn’t help being himself and talking to the media (much as Meghan can’t help herself!). This gave her an excuse to cut him out of her life. She then could avoid introducing Thomas to the Queen (can you imagine that scene?!).

I do think how she’s treated her father is highly indicative of who she really is. She’ll climb over and cut off anyone who doesn’t help her get where she thinks she should be. She’s guilty of the exact same thing she cut off her dad for.

100% this. To this day Harry has not met her father - at least not publicly acknowledged - can't say for sure. It's not like he's a murderer or anything he's just not "good" enough.

100%!!!!

I have been saying this since day 1.

She is deeply insecure of her past and her blue collar family. NO ONE was "good enough" to meet the royals and her new blue blooded husband. As a substitute, she invited Hollywood celebes she had never even met!! to their wedding to represent her side.

Not only that once they were serious they should have met each other's families. Especially the parents! She had a good relationship with her dad until she was with Harry. I don't think her entire family is blue collar, (which would be just fine), but clearly she is embarrassed of them. Her mom has a master's degree, her sister a bachelors and her dad was rather successful in his career. Ironically M.M. has demonstrated the worst behavior by far, along with her "weakened" husband. I loved how her dad in the 60 min interview said Oprah was taking advantage of a "weakened man". He gets it.

Great point! Even before the wedding staged pap stuff.

Something very bizarre with her frankly.

+1. Her dad is fat and ugly, let’s be honest. The pics of her walking down the aisle with the future king looked way better than if she were with her dad.

That's pretty cruel. Yes let's be honest, Prince Charles isn't going to be doing any beauty pageants either. Not to mention his wife. Meghan did invite him, but he had his heart problem and was in the hospital which is a pretty good reason.

It continues to reinforce these 2 are a hot mess together. Did anyone see the interview with Meghan's dad? Very sad, that man put her through college and seemed like a good dad. Still whatever her gripes it doesn't amount to being cut off. Actually her dad made a lot of good points.

I'm not a Meghan hater but the recent 60 minutes interview with her father is really sad.

A good father doesn’t sell his daughter out to the press no matter the state of their relationship

She sold out her family and Harry's on Oprah. She actually made her father look pretty good at this point.

Both of them certainly seem willing to sell out their family in the media. No question about that.

But I think a large part of why she cut him off is because he’s poor, fat, and embarrassing. She knew the pics of the future king walking her down the aisle would look way better than her dad doing it.

He's not poor actually, won awards as a lighting director. And he has a nice home right on the ocean. She did herself in to begin with. I would have invited the entire family to the wedding and treated them well. Guaranteed Samantha etc. wouldn't have felt slighted nor given up the goods on the "real Meghan". She should have ignored her dad's photo op, quietly asked him not to do that, but let it go. Instead she compounded everything. If there was to be any embarrassment it was that long winded preacher that tried to use the spotlight, and her mom's nose ring which was tacky for that type of event with the royals no less. Not to mention she invited strangers but not her own family. She went to Samantha graduation and was on good terms before the slight, it wouldn't have hurt. Then send them the occasional update, and phone call. That's what decent people do.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Markle

Okay, not “poor” necessarily then, but he didn’t represent the socioeconomic class values that she wanted to represent. (Also, winning professional awards doesn’t mean you have money. Neither does having a small home on the beach in Mexico.) But you make some good points. Agree that inviting A-list strangers but only a single family member is extremely questionable.

He travels between Mexico and LA where he has another home. Also, Meghan has nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles on both sides. What about Doria's side? It would have made her look 100% better if she had her family there. She could afford to wine and dine them instead of snubbing them. They were blindsided and hurt understandably. While I don't agree with how much her sister has spoken out, it was pretty cold. Samantha says she's probably embarrassed because she's in a wheel chair. Don't many of us have embarrassing family members? My DH has quite a few, but still he treats them well. I wonder if she regrets her actions, it certainly caused a media storm which keeps continuing.

She hasn't spoken to Samantha in like 20 years. Seriously that isn't a snub its called like, not pretending someone is close to you just to get media points.

It's not normal to not invite a sister to a wedding, unless it's a small, tiny wedding. Which this wasn't. Even a sister you're not close to.

Exactly. Especially when you're inviting celebrities you don't know. I'm pretty sure Meghan isn't close to Idris Elba, Oprah, George and Amal Clooney, James Corden, James blunt, and don't forget Nacho Figueras the famous polo player...among many others! Seriously think about it. A ton of famous people were invited yet left out 99% of her family from both sides. I'm glad her sister has called her out. I've looked up some of her accusations, and 99% she has been correct. Meghan made a speech at a university and claimed she made it through from working and grants. The real story was her dad paid for it. Her lack of character has been the problem all along.

Not close to but not estranged from. It sounds like Meghan was estranged from Samantha. She clearly has a strained relationship with that side of the family, and inviting family you have a strained relationship with is not something anyone is obligated to do. Especially when those people spend the months leading up to the event attempting to profit off of it.

Neither you nor I have any idea what her growing up was really like, what her dad really paid for, what he didn't, what strings were attached to the money he gave. Maybe you're right, maybe he was manipulative and lies all the time, honestly we do not know.

Coming from a very difficult family situation myself where money was used to control and where people rewrite the truth to frame themselves in positive lights, I would never jump to conclusions based on a view that has been very much curated by her dad and sister (but not full sister right?)

DP. She has strained relationships with every side of her family. She is on good terms with a single family member (Doria).

Yeah those of you with great families really seem to feel like this means something. Those of us with difficult families understand nuance. She's close to the person who raised her. She has a close and loyal group of friends. We see two different stories when looking at those facts and I doubt either of us will convince the other we are right.

I don’t have a great family. I have a screwed up, dysfunctional one. But I have still managed to maintain connections to many of my family members. Just because my family isn’t perfect and has caused me pain doesn’t mean all of my family members are irredeemable and deserve to be cut off forever. For one thing, cutting them off would mean my DD would lose relationships with her cousins, and she doesn’t deserve that.

Exactly. Why be that way. My DH has some as well, still they are always included. Basically Harry's family is evil as well??? I'm looking at the odds of Meaghan and Harry as being the problem.

Over 6000 comments most very negative toward M. and H. After Oprah their likeability tanked.

A little shocked at the number. Harry was pretty well liked before Meghan, but sadly she's taken him down fast.

A) Everything related H&M on the Daily Fail has been negative since 2017.

B) They are the only members of the royal family that consistently receive 5,000 - 10,000 comments on every single article.

So no. It was clearly the DF running with an unsourced rumor, as they've been known to do, and it was corrected quickly. Just not before they had it up for an hour or so.

Really - who thinks a mother is going to leave her three-week-old NEWBORN behind across an ocean and a 15-hour flight away for any reason? Let alone a statue unveiling that will take multiple days. That's the kind of idiocy the Daily Fail is running with.

Right, she would take the newborn with her duh! highjack the statue event for herself and baby - it's obvious at this point how she operates. But once again she is a coward.

Make up your mind - she's going and she's going to steal the attention off every royal family member - born and married in. Or she's not going and she's a coward for not crossing the ocean with a newborn.

You sound like you don't want her to go, but you also want her to go? Which is it?
