We ALL have crazy neighbors with guns, we just don't know who they are all the time, do we? |
Its my god given right to have a gun and shoot people. We need more guns! |
Must have more guns. |
I have a gun and dog...
The gun isn't loaded and in a gun safe; ![]() Dog is more likely to lick you than hurt you.... ![]() I guess I am dead meat to the next intruder... ![]() |
You are so full of shit! There is hardly any crime in Switzerland compared to the U.S. http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-with-highest-murder-rates.html |
Because the 2nd Amendment permits me thevrightbtomown a weapon for self protection. I own a Glock 9 mm that I keep in a safe in my home. I take it out to the range once a month. If, God forbid, I ever have to,use it, the criminal, will not. E getting up. The 2nd Amendment is just as important as the other rights in our Bill of Rights. If we repeal the Second, why not the First Amendment or the Fifth Amendment? |
Switzerland’s low gun homicide rate seems a contradiction upon first glance. Here’s a country with one of the highest gun ownership levels in Europe that also has a relatively low gun homicide rate! Same applies to Norway.
In contrast, Britain has exceptionally low gun ownership levels and gun homicide rates. The Swiss, Norwegian and even Canadian firearms experience refutes the belief that very low gun homicide rates are due to strict controls on ownership levels of firearms … while British and most other EU country experience confirms that belief. However, even Switzerland has half the gun ownership rate and Norway, a third that of the US which has the highest gun ownership rate of any country in the world. Furthermore, Switzerland and Norway, while having high gun ownership rates, also have extensive training, certification requirements and strict gun controls … and are not permeated by violent cultural values. http://sandiegofreepress.org/2013/01/some-factual-gun-statistics-part-2-of-a-cultural-comparison-gun-violence-in-the-us-and-europe/ |
Lordy, the NRA has truly infiltrated the American mind. Misinformation abounds. Here are some factoids:
MYTH: "Israel and Switzerland have very high rates of gun ownership and they don't have our crime problems. This proves that guns are not the problem and gun control is not the answer." In fact, both Switzerland and Israel have much stricter gun control laws than the United States. All men in Switzerland are members of the militia and issued rifles by the government and these rifles are all registered and all ammunition must be accounted for. When it comes to handguns, the Swiss require a background check, a permit to purchase a handgun, and handgun registration. Apparently, Swiss gun owners don't consider this an infringement on their right to own a gun. Israel requires a license to carry, possess or buy a handgun and they conduct thorough background checks, including personal interviews. Also, in Switzerland, "All weapons and munitions are individually registered. They are not even allowed to have bullets for their military-issued assault weapons. Those are kept in armories and available at regulated shooting ranges. Unstable and paranoid, criminal types are denied gun ownership in Switzerland. Unlawful possession of guns is harshly punished. Gun trade among individuals requires a valid weapon acquisition permit. Weapons acquired from an individual in the last ten years (which did not require a weapon-acquisition permit) have to be registered. As a central weapons register was politically unfeasible, the authorities hope to get an overview of the market through this registration requirement. Every gun must be marked with a registered serial number. " Here's some more: http://csgv2.blogspot.com/2011/03/truth-about-guns-in-switzerland.html Please, people. Stop all this Switzerland bullsh!t. The Swiss think we are ape-sh!t crazy. Believe me. I have relatives in Geneva. |
The Swiss gun control laws are indeed strict.
But if the Swiss were of a criminal mindset those gun laws would be ignored the same as gun laws in the US of A are being ignored. We cannot blame a monoculture as the Swiss nation was founded on multi-culturalism, what with the German, French, and Italian cultures mixing (the French seem to be more liberal/progressive). Then add in the Albanian, ex-Yugo, and other refugee sorts. IIRC, the Swiss foreign-born population is a greater percentage of the Swiss population than our own. As to my earlier statement that the USA is blessed with more losers per capita than Europe -- I do have to amend that one. We are blessed with more violent losers than Yurp. Property crime rates are all over the place in Yurp. IIUC we would be in the middle (and nearer the bottom if you take out the South.) However in violent crime we are #1 BABY! |
BS. |
First of all, as a native Virginian, I have to say...YOU'RE IN VIRGINIA, OP!! What do you expect?! Virginians love their guns. Prince William County is not as transient as Fairfax or Loudoun, it is a county which still has a lot of long-time residents who have the old, southern, conservative values. Having said that, just because your neighbor has guns does not make them crazy, but you have to figure out if your neighbor is an old country person who will shoot first and ask questions later or if they are just someone who enjoys hunting and/or wants to have guns for protection. If you are in a suburban neighborhood, I wouldn't be worried, but if you live out among people who own acres of land and have family who has been there a long time, your best bet is to maintain a friendly relationship from them. And don't piss them off. |
Jeez, please read and please know your own country's policies and laws. The US is exceedingly LAX wrt things like requiring background checks, registering guns, permitting almost completely unregulated gun purchases and trading. We are insane. The Swiss think we are insane--that uptight little country would NEVER fall into the stupid (non)regulatory landscape we have created for ourselves (thanks in large part to the NRA, whose policies reflect the desires of the firearm industry, not the best interests of the American people). |
You are correct. Now let me go have this abortion real quick. Ill be back in a flash. |
WHERE does it say that because someone has guns they are crazy? The title SPECIFICALLY says "crazy neighbor" has "guns" - i.e.: separate. Are there that many stupid people who can't read and/or need to spin? How would you feel if first you found out your neighbor is crazy THEN you found out they have guns? |
Middle class existence is SO SCARY! Why you must crap your pants daily! Do yourself a favor and just eat your gun now. |
