He said he didn’t want to be blacklisted. Here’s the thing, maybe he would have been “done” in LA or NYC, but then you can move to another city and basically be THE celebrity makeup artist. He could have set up an amazing practice in any other major city. But what he wanted was NYC/LA level fame and money. He wanted it more than he wanted to be a good person. He wanted it more than he wanted to be true to his own conscience. So I feel for him a little bit, but come on: there’s not enough money in the WORLD that would make me treat Keenya like that; making her feel fat, and then not listening to her when she was speaking up about being sexually harassed, on camera, in real time, in front of his face. They all sold their soul. Tyra is just more obvious about it. |
I've made it through two out of the three episodes and honestly, I'm not sure if I can stomach another minute of Tyra's smug face when she's asked to defend her actions. The whole thing is grotesque. I feel ashamed of myself for watching ANTM in real time when it first aired, and how much I enjoyed it. Watching these clips now, I'm horrified.

The vibes I got from the main 4…
Jay: I did a lot of messed up stuff for this show. I feel kinda bad about it. Miss J: Yeah, it was a hot mess. Oh, well! I had fun. Nigel: Who me? I was just there for the paycheck. Tyra: Of course I did bad things, but YOU wanted it! So really it’s your fault! |
More like: Jay: I started to get a backbone to stand up against damaging behavior and so I said I was done! (Actions show not done and not further discussing new found morality). I was then shoved into a minor role and fired. Miss J: i was fired but got flowers beforehand. My old boss has yet to reach out. Nigel: Tyra: The bad things done were not my call/decision or a result of the times. Every change in the industry since is a result of the show!! I’m still doing important things now! |
Not really the point of the post you’re responding to. He has manipulated his face to add fat and it changed his attractive, angular bone structure to make him look like a character on The Addams Family. He’s 53…that’s not “living long enough…” |
Yeah you missed the point. |
The plus size model did. |
I think we will feel the same way about all reality shows in the future. |
I think the majority of people sell their soils for $. Courage is rare in most professions. (The DoJ lawyers quitting are an exception. They should ALL be called to testify before Congress.) |
Seems like Miss J was the bravest about being candid (re Tyra) |
Tyra's idea? Knowing what we now know about the "fashion/modeling" industry, a very safe bet there were some "Epstein" creeps over that show coming to fruition -- if not Jeff himself! |
It said she modeled and now had an ice cream shop. I don't recall it saying she was a "top" model. |
How so? |
She was in Dove commercials. Seems top-ish to me. |

This made me really hate Tyra. I grew up on this show.
The lack of accountability from everyone just actually pissed me off. I get that-in the smallest way- that time was a ratings race to the bottom in terms of letting people degrade themselves on film- there was an early oughts value system at play- but I knew this crap was wrong/engineered even at the time (eg poor/offensive (Ebony) makeovers, casting for drama, not diversity, etc). This wasn't the 1920s, people. Or even the 70s. I feel like other than a few of the models interviewed, everyone couched their terms and worded things carefully and passively- and that makes me really disappointed in all the other judges as well for doing the same thing. It made me love the outspoken models even more. The sexual assault/ event that occurred- I remember at the time wondering how production/those filming didn't shut it down... as in 'take it to a certain point to let her look shady, then boot the guys out'.... but that never happened... what was the recollection of the other girls and where was the girl code?? I wonder if production stopped others from helping? Or maybe other girls were just this competitive they didn't care?... and I think in retrospect it was edited in just such a way that she seemed apathetic- but not blitzed- though she had to be... and the way she described when she left home when she was younger- she really didn't have a good sense of safety so saying she was legal age (though I honestly thought she was a teen at the time) doesn't mean she could provide consent... Here's the thing- for those of us who actually watched the show- we know Tyra's bad-acting 'lying' face... and she was using it the whole time she interviewed for this thing. I realized at one point that my upper lip was curled up in disgust just watching her on TV acting blinky eyed/confused yet smug and self-assured that she had accomplished something (-what??) She has certain mannerisms and facial tells when she is lying and I was just getting angrier watching. I hope the J's don't hold their breath for those phone calls from Tyra. -white girl who hated her since she yelled at Tiffany. PS- on that note- The behind the scenes of that was so fascinating because I remember watching it with my mum and we were like 'there is something going on here- this is bizarre- I wish I knew the full story and could see what was cut'...I was so sad for her that episode that no one came over and stood with her-especially the other chick getting booted- as she had nothing to lose. Normalizing verbal assault, then doubling down- may karma be the b!ttch that you deserve, Tyra. |
