I'm that PP and the response that I would expect is the police coming over, me sharing a video of some lazy assh0le putting stuff in my bin (private property) and investigating what it actually was. I am more than fine with the police going over to the said assh0le's house to ask him why he is doing that. If they can act entitled, so can I. If they can respond to drug addicts and loiterers, they can respond for this too. |
My trash bin has large writing that says “property of Fairfax County.” And police can go through your curbside trash cans without a warrant. I want to assure you the police don’t give a sh*t (no pun intended) about a person putting a single poop bag in your curbside trash can. They don’t give a sh*t about way more serious offenses. |
I don't know what you're putting in there. Might as well be a bomb. Yes, they very much care about that. My trash can is my property and if someone steals it or damages it I'm on the hook for the cost of the new one. So it is very much private property. I'm sorry that you think your shitty behaviour has no impact on anyone else, but it does. If you haven't learned that lesson yet, I'm happy to have the police explain it to you. |
| I’m pretty effective at faking picking up with a bag. Even act like I’m making a knot. Then walk a bit and put the bag away for next time. Good times. |
Please call. Record. Upload to social media so we all can watch this unfold. |
Awww you're such a brave little keyboard warrior, aren't you? |
I already said I record everywhere on my property. Why wouldn't I? It prevents a lot of assh0le behavior since everyone is aware they are on camera
|
I don’t put anything in anyone’s trash cans. And give me a break, you know what’s going into the trash can. And if you’re making unfounded police reports about possible bombs, prepare to be cited yourself. |
I may think I know, but I have no way of being certain. Funny, you so staunchly defend the behavior you claim not to participate in. You're not scaring me. |
| Of course I do this! It’s a public dumpster and a bag of dog poop here and there is not a big impact. |
Ha ha. None of that is going to happen. |
You're free to make that bet and find out. |

Maybe this will clear things up for those of you who think that the police wouldn't care. https://www.ironbullhauling.com/is-it-illegal-to-throw-trash-in-someone-elses-trash-can
Also, my DH works for a company that would very much call the police if they had you on camera dumping anything in their commercial dumpsters. It's called illegal dumping. |
Those were my only comments on this thread? I’m not defending the behavior at all. I’m saying calling the police about it is patently absurd and will make the police hate you or cite you. The police don’t care about significantly more serious issues. They’re not going to waste their time on this and will be pissed if you false or misleading reports to them. |
m You’re citing a junk hauling company’s website. This is not evidence that the police care at all about a stray poop bag. (They don’t.) And the police also won’t do anything about other de minimis trash. What they might take seriously is a contractor disposing of meaningful amounts of waste in someone’s trash can or dumpster. |
