I mean I hate humid and hot but our AC at 77 is plenty to keep cool. That's amazing to set at 62 - that's gotta be freezing?!! For winter we try to keep at 73/4.

Ours is automatically set to come on at 74 and dip to 72 at night. Heat comes on at 68. We keep the windows closed most of the year due to allergies.

I think every house is different. One person’s 77 is different than another. And yes I know how a thermostat works, but I’ve witnessed this in different houses.

Very true. External environmental factors affect it greatly also. Outdoor relative local humidity, sun exposure, etc. can vary greatly even in the same neighborhood. Living in a lower spot that had humid still air at night will cause a place to run more A/C than a house on a hill with a breeze and shade trees.

We are at 70 in the day time and it starts off at 68 at night and then goes down to 67 late night. Early morning it kicks up to 68 again. By 9 am, it is at 70 again. We have to raise our temperature to 72 when guests come. DH is very comfortable and the rest of the family is in fleece and fuzzy socks all the time because it is so cold. My house is chilled.

During Winter, house gets heated to 72. Night temp is 68. Our AC and Heat is always on standby. It just maintains the temp throughout the year.

That’s crazy. Your wintertime thermostat is actually set higher than your summertime? Do you actually wear heavier clothes around the house in summer vs winter?
