How are you feeling if you kid is deciding between Harvard and another school?

Depends entirely on finances and the other school. Harvard is one of the very top schools in the nation. If admitted and you go to another school, it better be Yale, Princeton, Stanford or a strong contender for the group.
Calculus changes a bit for specialized academic areas and athletes with super skills/potential. And could not admire Harvard more for their response to Trump. |

I think these times are going to be like the 60s. It mostly worked fine and kids got their degrees. Except Kent State. Why would you want to insulate your kids from the very serious things going on in society? Isn't part of college about grappling with your beliefs and how you will contribute to a better world (or at minimum not make things worse)? I'm affiliated with and am sending my kid to a college that is large and diverse and has significant Jewish and Muslim enrollment. I am sad for injustices suffered by both populations. In addition, one of my state's most interesting and independent politicians is from a Christian family with roots in Gaza. He lost innocent non-combatant family members in the bombardment of Gaza. I can't imagine silencing any of these people from expressing their grief, anger, and policy views in a campus setting. I don't actually think it does much to change the course of nation states but it does create awareness of wrongs. That is part of the atmosphere of truthful inquiry that I expect universities to uphold. |

I went to a rival school, and there's nothing but goodwill towards H right now. Even some talk of making donations. I'd send my kid to H in a heartbeat (if it was otherwise a good fit). But I would avoid Columbia. |

I bet you were one of the lovelies screaming for Garber’s head last week. Now he’s your savior? Garber put out a statement last week that said antisemitism on campus is a serious problem. He himself as an observant Jew has been a victim multiple times. His statement this week was in support of the faculty and nothing more. They will settle with the Trump administration because they have no choice, losing their tax exempt status would be the end of them. And, people like you will once again call for his head. |
