I think the cutoff varies by school, though not sure if it is school or pyramid. |
It’s by school (not pyramid) |
I think its the top 10% in each school, score-wise, so not a set score. I'm the one who just posted that my kid is in, and was not in pool. |
My daughter is in AAP despite a reading disability. She reads slower than her peers but has an amazing ability to connect ideas and see the big picture. She’s also really good at math. She had intensive tutoring throughout 1st and 2nd grade to get her reading where it is. (She is a determined and very hard working kid.) She thrived in an AAP classroom. All that to say, a kid who struggles with reading can absolutely belong in AAP if they have the right mindset. |
I would not reach out. And I would tell your kid to be sensitive about it. I told mine she got in because she actually asked (they must be talking about it) and told her not to bring it up again with other kids. She understood why. Her little brother has SN so we talk a lot in our house about ability and effort. |
100 percent agree. It's not the right place for her, just ask for math pull out. |
I also told my daughter not to talk about it. The kids absolutely will be talking about it. |

This is surprising. Stats sound good. |
Several years ago for my DD, a mom friend asked me if I got the notification of orientation. I had no clue what she was referring to, also note our kids don't even go to the same ES. My daughter obvi had not gotten in and hers had. I laughed so hard when I connected the dots. She was so determined to find out. LOL. So just as an FYI, people that don't get in, have no idea about orientation. Also, I have a much thicker skin. Some people may not like any kind of poking. Just be patient. You will know the answer soon! |
Touché! |

How do these kids not get in? |
| I don't get it either. Some profiles on here are In and others with far better scores are not in. **Mind f blown*** |
| We are sitting here discussing how it’s possible that everyone with lower scores got in, but DD did not. What do we have to do?! |
