Bethesda Delco Parents Brawl?

The club should ban the offending dads from the sideline for the rest of the season.

As a Bethesda pre-ECNL parent commenting on yesterday’s tape that I saw before it got taken down was overly exuberant soccer dads doing too much. A 16 year old girl had enough of the abuse and popped off on the parents. Mature parents would have stopped then because it’s not the 16year olds job to model decency and restraint. The parents doubled down calling her weak minded for losing focus. The Delco parents were on tape this entire time and reacted rather calmly. Calmer than I would have been if a group of parents circled and verbally berated my teenage daughter.

This is on Bethesda’s girls program. Bunch of privileged parents and golf bro coaches doing little to help girls become women.

Small tangent - Delco pre-ECNL parent here. What the heck was up with the center ref not knowing basic rules!?! We were shocked he was confidently incorrect about the match length/ball used. I loved your coach saying we came all the way from PA to play the full 70

If it goes the full 70 I'm pretty sure you all break that 0-0 tie. OK back to the drama.

How does SC still have a job? He came very close to getting reported (or was and it was kept quiet) for his behavior at ECNL St. Louis in September.
What was Bethesda coach yelling at Delco coach about? Not that it’s ever justification for a parent to yell at a player on the other team (who does that?), but what was happening on the field that prompted the coach and parents to behave so badly?
The Bethesda coach walked towards the Delco bench and told an injured player to shut the F up you little B. That is why he was tossed from the game. It’s a good look when a grown adult speaks to a child like that.

A big IF this is true, something needs to happen. He has been warned multiple times before and multiple complaints. Enough is enough for the sake of the girls he is entrusted with. Again, IF this is true ….

Why do you think the video was blocked?

I doubt it as well. No way the coach said that and is not checked in at Holy Cross right now.

That did not happen.

I saw the video that (Bethesda coach behavior) 1,000% did not happen. Let’s keep the train on the tracks here.

The coach should do a better job communicating to the parents what’s acceptable, and the parents shouldn’t be talking to the kids. The delco parent told the Bethesda parent to shut up which sparks all of it, but the Bethesda mother who makes a b-line up the sideline to the parents…everyone just needs to be a better example and keep the focus on the kids.

Let’s remember that there’s a coach in the Bethesda program making an effort to bring competitive soccer to underserved areas of PG county and that some of these parents may not be as familiar with what is acceptable at very competitive levels of youth soccer.

Not making excuses, the parents were out of line and should be talked to. It’s a shame that they go out of their way to make the game all about them, and it’s a shame that their kids have to keep watching this happen.

Then why did the coach get tossed? And what was happening on the field that prompted parents to yell at the other team's player? It doesn't excuse the bad behavior, but I'm guessing something provoked it.

Seriously? You are blaming this on the "underserved PG county parents"? When we've all seen the Montgomery County parents misbehaving for years.

So lemme get this straight- this behavior is because the families are from “underprivileged PG county” and they are not aware of what is acceptable in competitive soccer. GTFOH. Sorry that your PC/Karen/Montgomery County afternoon was ruined by the gremlins! How about nobody on that sideline corrected the behavior from the parents. Not one parent said leave the girls alone and let them play. This is exactly what is wrong with people. Because they don’t have proper soccer etiquette?!

The person who said that literally said it’s unacceptable and everyone still finds something wrong w that. Can’t win.
