We’re planning a driving trip this summer and I’m little worried about reentry just from some things we’ve heard. Our family consists of two white moms and our African-American college student daughter—all US citizens. Am I being paranoid to be worried? Thanks for sharing your thoughts/recent experiences. Which state are re-entering? It shouldn't matter but certain states seem to be problematic

I’m not sure how to put this without sounding rude, but, two white moms and an African American daughter might stand out, so you might want to have documents with you beyond just your passports.

I think this is ok. If it was 2 AA parents (any sex) with a white child, I'd be concerned.

They may casually chat your daughter up, but you might catch what they are gently checking for is human trafficking. We just noticed this in the past few years. My husband and I are Caucasian with different last names and passport from different countries. My daughter has a different last name from both of us and is not Caucasian. For around 10 years we crossed the Canada/US border without anyone blinking an eye or questioning.
