Sure and when you show up you won't be thrown into an ICE facility for a few weeks

A few years ago I was talking with a friend of a friend, and she mentioned she can't go to Canada because she had a DUI.
Is that true?
Will Canada really not let non-citizens in if they have committed a crime?

Yes as long as your name isn't Trump.

I live in Canada. American tourists are very welcome here. Please let your MAGA hat at home.

+1 American citizens are safer in Canada than Canadian citizens are in the USA. American citizens are safer in Canada more generally because they don't have the epidemic of the gun violence the USA has. But if you plan to bring your MAGA hat, and say "Heil Trump" and bring your signs about Canada being the 51st state, I don't think Canadians will be very nice to you. But they won't shoot you because they don't have guns.

You could be found inadmissible for a number of reasons, such as:

security reasons, including espionage subversion (attempts to overthrow a government, etc.) violence or terrorism or membership in an organization involved in any of these
human or international rights violations, including war crimes or crimes against humanity
being a senior official in a government engaged in gross human rights violations or subject to international sanctions
committing a crime, including driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
organized crime, including membership in an organization that takes part in organized criminal activity, people smuggling or money laundering

I just visited Canada. No problems, felt welcome.
Of course you are indistinguishable from most Canadians you meet - at least that was true in Toronto.

Canadians by nature are super nice but they are VERY MAD at the US as a country, not as you as an individual, and so will likely not be that friendly. Even in good times, Canadians are nice and polite but not friendly in that American sense. They're more reserved. I'm a dual citizen and live in 1/2 times in both places.

Can you recommend a favorite long weekend type area to visit - because we’d like to spend tourist $ in Canada?

Yes

I can’t wait until our felonious dear leader is denied entry.

My Canadian relatives understand we hate Trump just as much as they do, if not more. If we were Republicans it might be different.

I've been in Canada for the last three days and have felt very welcomed.
