im talking basketball and football where scores could be 1200 or lower for top players |
Even pre-TO ivies, duke, uchicago take athletes with much lower scores, as in 1200s (even lower for duke basketball and football of course) . In otherwords 250-350 points below unhooked admits. The athletic lowered standards will not change because they have always been that way. Thats the true admissions scandal not some questbridge kid getting in with a 1410. |
It is not just those: Ivy swimmer we know is 1280, baseball 1190. Lacrosse at hopkins 1250. Track act 28. These are not best and brightest students. |
nope not true. |
My 2022 grad (athlete) had test scores (1480) and submitted them for pre reads at IVYs and Nesacs. |
Revenue sports are very different and some UMD Football players would have been admitted as a NARP. |
that is a nothingburger post |
They probably aren’t very good. |
Because they are businesses. They get to decide what is important to them and what is deserving per, their interests. They care about their brands, stakeholders, revenue, alumni donations, etc. and their priorities are in service to that. No seats are ‘taken away’ as they were never anyone’s to begin with. No one is entitled to a seat. One has to be a okay with system or look elsewhere. I get the frustration, but it is what it is. |
This is one of the smartest things I have read on this entire site. |
| My daughter is top 10 nationally in her event in T&F, recruited to most Ivys. Princeton needed >1400, Columbia >1380, Harvard >1400. Even TO schools wanted scores |
+1. Probably better students than the kids who get their parents to write their essays. |
Just a few notes about Harvard's student body. About 20% of the class are on a varsity team, most of the athletes are recruited athletes. The median family income for recruited athletes is about $250,000, 20% of them come from families making more than $500K. 83% of the athletes are white (compared to 41% of the student body). That might give you some idea why there are so many recruited athletes for country club sports that nobody watches. |
What do you mean? The AI is still in play. |
OP here, thank you for this guidance - this is the type of feedback I was seeking. But with DCUM, you have to take 5 pages of garbage / people not answering your question to get the one who does! |
