Are people masking on flights to Europe?

My experience- about 30% of people on all my flights this past year.

I dunno. I always get/have gotten sick (before and after the pandemic) after I fly.

Same. Thats actually the only place I mask these days, because I would continually get sick after flying.

I just ordered a box of masks. I’ll mask outbound, and I’ll attempt to persuade my family to as well. I can’t imagine sleeping on an overnight flight with a mask, but we will see.

I won’t mask outdoors while sightseeing, etc.

Are you all going to mask in every restaurant, cab ride, and museum in Europe?

I mask on transportation. You can choose outdoor seating at restaurants more easily at restaurants. At museums it depends on how busy they are, but last year in Paris I noticed many of the security guards were wearing them.

Typical DC metro area behavior: derailing a travel forum post with asinine tribal politics.

FTR, I’m the OP and I’m a bleeding heart liberal. And I haven’t masked in over a year…even when flying.

But I’m taking the family on a long vacation in Europe this summer, and the panicked threads in the health forum re: covid, flu, etc. prompted me to ask what people were noticing on recent flights to/from Europe. Why? Because I’m on the fence about ordering masks before the trip.

I’ll probably mask on the outbound flight, but it will be really hard to convince my family to mask (I have teenagers).

Gentle suggestion: stop assuming everyone who doesn’t mask is a MAGA Republican from Florida. I mean, that’s just insane. Plenty of liberals haven’t masked or gotten boosted in years.

And most of us still roll our eyes when we see masked people driving alone in their car or sitting alone in their office. It has nothing to do with politics.

I'd buy some in case a family member gets sick and you're all stuck in the same space. I've also been on planes where people around are hacking up their lungs and it's good to do something to protect yourself against them.

It’s a numbers game. Cabs don’t have a hundred people in a closed space, like a London metro. You can open the window in a cab.

This is dated but got sick after last summer’s trip to London and Iceland. But not planning to mask this time around.

I was just in NY for work and a decent amount of people mask on subway and train. Not the majority but more than a handful.

We don’t plan to use public transportation during the trip and we are debating whether or not to shy away from museums. A lot of our trip centers on being outdoors.

You're still jammed into immigration, security etc. You can't avoid people all the time.

LOL no one is masking anymore. I swear some of you don't get out of this bubble. Go anywhere else in the country and you don't see a single mask.

I come back to DC and it's the only place where I regularly see forever maskers. So weird.

Roughly what’s the percentage of masked/unmasked?

And did you or anyone in your group get sick during your trip?

Nearly zero mask now.

Yes this.

I don’t think a mask will help if you’re on a plane for 8 hours in the vicinity of a sick person. I tried being careful a couple years ago (masked on plane, train, museums…) and still got covid. No one else in my family did, even though we were all in close quarters together 24/7.

It’s all random. After that experience I quit masks.

My neighbors got Covid from a business dinner in Pisa.
The venue was small with a lot of people.
