Are people masking on flights to Europe?

What is the logic behind taking the mask off at 10,000 feet???

DP. I don’t mask but I believe she is referring to the max effectiveness of the plane’s filtration system which happens once the plane is fully airborne.

Almost none. One was masked directly in front of me and it made me nervous that maybe he knew he had something and still flew.

Roughly what’s the percentage of masked/unmasked?

And did you or anyone in your group get sick during your trip?

Europe is full, I tell you, FULL, of horrible FL Republicans. No one masks!!!!!!

There are definitely people masking in the UK this week.

Hopefully the Rs aren’t traveling overseas. Americans already have a bad reputation - no need to make it worse.

Not to derail the thread but I'm actually in Europe and everyone is making fun of Biden and Biden supporters as a bunch of liars and clowns. Don't wear a Biden/ Harris hat is you can avoid it.

Right...because so many people wear Biden hats.

I just got back and no one was "making fun of Biden and Biden supporters as a bunch of liars and clowns". Project much?

Trump and Trump supporters have been demonstrating bad behavior for years.

Sigh.

Typical DC metro area behavior: derailing a travel forum post with asinine tribal politics.

FTR, I’m the OP and I’m a bleeding heart liberal. And I haven’t masked in over a year…even when flying.

But I’m taking the family on a long vacation in Europe this summer, and the panicked threads in the health forum re: covid, flu, etc. prompted me to ask what people were noticing on recent flights to/from Europe. Why? Because I’m on the fence about ordering masks before the trip.

I’ll probably mask on the outbound flight, but it will be really hard to convince my family to mask (I have teenagers).

Gentle suggestion: stop assuming everyone who doesn’t mask is a MAGA Republican from Florida. I mean, that’s just insane. Plenty of liberals haven’t masked or gotten boosted in years.

And most of us still roll our eyes when we see masked people driving alone in their car or sitting alone in their office. It has nothing to do with politics.

If you’re vaccinated and masking, why does it matter to you what other people do?

If you have to ask that, you're clearly not a science-loving "Democrat."

Op again.

I just ordered a box of masks. I’ll mask outbound, and I’ll attempt to persuade my family to as well. I can’t imagine sleeping on an overnight flight with a mask, but we will see.

I won’t mask outdoors while sightseeing, etc.

Are you all going to mask in every restaurant, cab ride, and museum in Europe?

Sleeping on a plane is so miserable that sleeping in a mask in a plane is no worse!

Airplanes are probably the safest places due to advanced air filtration
