Eh. I don’t think so. She was pretty consistent in not wanting to be called a B. She didn’t want it to be negative. He made it negative. Why did he bother asking her about it if he was going to ignore her and call her a B anyway? I think she has moved on from Kanye, like most everyone has, because it’s so clear he has serious mental illness. Taylor’s issue seems to be with Kim, who illegally recorded their conversation and then edited it and released it to make her look bad. I’d have a problem with that too. https://variety.com/2020/music/news/taylor-swift-kanye-west-phone-call-leaks-read-full-transcript-1203541363/amp/ |
This is…quite an interpretation of the call. You, sir, are what Taylor is singing about. #patriarchy |
I guess the best revenge is being a beloved superstar billionaire while your trashy rival has to co-parent with a bipolar manchild for the rest of her life |
And Kim has no talent. I wonder though if Kanye manipulated Kim to do that. I’ve been manipulated by a bipolar or narcissist person, so it can happen. Taylor named the snake on her tour Karyn. Everyone knew she meant Kim because Kim called Taylor a snake. Taylor embraced snakes during her Reputation tour, which suggested the nice trusting girl was dead. Who doesn’t want to overcome bullies? Taylor has ambition and that brings out bullies. |
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. When the victim has more power than the bulky, it is no longer bullying. |
Lol, nope. I would think this was written by a bot if not for the spelling. |
This. Honestly people. |
Lol, yup that is the real working definition of bullying. “The repetitive intentional hiring of one person by another, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power.” Taylor has much more power now and should let it go. To bring it up when winning person of The year and claim her “career suffered a death” and she had to leave the country is distasteful at best and shows a lack of mature thinking and understanding. To then encourage her fans to use bullying tactics against others is icky. |
The repetitive intentional hiring of one person by another? |
Ha- thanks autocorrect and bad phone typing
Should be hurting. Here is a link from the cdc - again observed or perceived power imbalance is part of it. https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/youthviolence/bullyingresearch/fastfact.html |
The main reason she re-recorded her songs was not to get sympathy, it was because she was treated badly by people and it made fiscal sense. The industry is littered with stories of artists signing bad contracts because they didn't know if another would come along, they needed up front money to live (Jewel was living in her car before she made it big), etc. The industry is terrible and predatory. The difference here is that Taylor's re-recordings are a huge money maker, vs. say if Jewel (who I'm a big fan of), re-recorded her early stuff. It would cost her to get studio space, hire the team, market it, etc. and I doubt she would break even much less make money. Taylor was in a time in her career where she could take advantage of sticking it to powerful men who thought they were in charge of her career. I don't have sympathy for her there, I have admiration. Similarly, when she sued the DJ for $1 who grabbed her ass cause he thought he could and thought it would make a fun story. That's something I don't have the resources to do - if crap like that happens to 99% of women we have to shake it off (sorry) or just stuff it down, and it's pretty bad ass that she used her legal team and resources to make a point. Do I think she did it for me? No. But it still felt pretty good. Same with the Kanya and the "Imma let you finish but" VMA incident. Unless you think it was some big conspiracy theory, that was something that happened to a teen age Taylor - taking her accomplishment and having some arrogant prick of a man ruin it for her and make her feel crappy even though she did nothing wrong. She didn't plan that, but yes, getting the upper hand later on when he and his dumb wife tried to double down felt good. I know it was not about me, and it didn't right any wrongs in my own life, but damn it felt good and yes it made me like her more. |

Op and other haters
Taylor is living rent free in your head.

We "haters" have plenty of room in our head for other things. TayTay's simplistic antics don't exactly require a lot of brain power.

This is such a great summary. I followed these stories at the time, not as a fan at all, just in shock that people were doing her so dirty and was really impressed with how she handled it all. I especially really appreciated the lawsuit. To see her get her karma now (pun sort of intended) is just nice. I'm impressed. I'm happy for her. She's also spoken about how she's really tried to figure out what in her made her even want to try to reconcile with Kanye to begin with, and acknowledges it as a toxic trait she has. She's now calling him and his ex-wife for what they are, and I'm here for it. |
Exactly. She is making money off of vengeance and “justice” over things and people that wronged her. If you buy into it, you feel justice and it feels good and you buy more into her. She is completely monetizing the feeling of revenge for the patriarchy. She may scratch the surface of the patriarchy, but she isn’t making much of a difference. If that were her intent, she would have concentrated her TIME comments on how to help other women navigate and increase their power in the world, rather than harping on HER past. I don’t really respect that, nor do I think it is helping to use bullying tactics (sic my sister fans on these big baddies) to get back at people. She is making bank on people who feel like you do though PP. |
