I can’t find where she’s said this, but she says she felt like she kind of had to go along with it. In the transcript you can see where she’s uncomfortable about it when she starts talking about how Kim would feel. Plus Kanye was in a manic phase and if you’ve ever been on the phone with someone with manic florid/pressured speech, you kind of just want to get them off the phone somehow. i |

I thought it was pathetic when she said something like, 'whatever I do, there's a feminist think piece about me. I don't want them saying things.'
Several times on that call she referred to 'feminists' like they're a crazy fringe group. I thought she claimed to be one? She's afraid to be called one because it's too much of a risk. This solidified my opinion that she's such a lame role model for girls, is not willing to be bold and take risks, and plays into every female stereotype that guys want. Sorry, there is absolutely nothing challenging or boundary pushing about her, she is a truly boring artist. |
Meh. We’re all lucky we didn’t have some opportunistic shitheads secretly recording the dumb stuff we said in our 20’s. Including you. |
I noticed that too. She promoted herself as a feminist and a girls girl so don't be surprised when they write articles about you |
Doesn’t matter, we didn’t court fame since the age of 13 and our parents didn’t sanction that. The trade off for fame is privacy. Funny how when Linda Tripp and Monica had this recording issue, people weren’t so up in arms that a young girl had a “shithead secretly recording the dumb stuff we said.” Taylor should at the very least acknowledge all the women who came before her, but she never does. It is a missed opportunity if she means to fight for the rights of women other than herself. |
NP. Poor thing. Wonder if JM is still getting death threats, or Scooter Braun's wife and children are She didn't care for it when the shoe was on the other foot eh. |
This is such a weird, rambling take. I assume alcohol is involved? |
Right! And the idea that she owes him sex is so disgusting. |
And he didn’t make her famous. He’s a horrible person. |
| I do not get the vitriol for Taylor swift. I’m not a huge fan but I’ve heard her music and like a few of her songs. There are plenty of pop stars whose music I’ve not been into but I’ve never felt animosity towards them, I just don’t add them to my playlists. What is it about her that have people so riled up? |
Here is the thing: of course what he did was atrocious, and he is seriously mentally ill. But Taylor is monetizing your empathy and anger. She wants you to feel sorry for her. She wants you to feel worse than you have for any other pop star or female figure involved in a sex scandal. You should want her to be vindicated for this awful experience with Kanye. And by standing up for her and being her fan, you will also be vindicated for all the wrongs you have felt also as a woman operating in a world of misogyny. Her platform right now is built partially upon the idea that if you buy into her and her albums and music, you will also be owning the patriarchy. She has monetized that feeling for her fans, but it doesn’t work like that. |
Good lord
This is complete nonsense |

Go ahead, explain why it is nonesense. It is what she is doing with the rebranding and the rereleasing of her albums. No one cares about scooter or Kanye really, except Taylor. He doesn’t affect her fan’s lives at all, but still they rapidly defend her about those two topics. It is because the fans are thinking they are fighting against misogyny and a big bad evil, when in reality, they are just generating more free PR for Taylor and giving her more money for albums they already heard. She doesn’t need the money, but her fans are buying into the idea that they are vindicating her and themselves. |
