People still have the right to NOT respond as they see fit without their silence being interpreted as guilt.

If someone accused me of bringing up concerns over a mixed baby’s skin tone I would have said:

“That’s insanely racist! I would never say that!”

Unfortunately, William can’t say the same so he’s sticking with silence.

You don’t know this. You are declaring him guilty for staying silent. That is not fair.

DP I actually think the fact that he responded at all is pretty crazy. And to the pp up there saying they would feel compelled to respond, of course you would! You have not been trained literally from the day of your birth to not respond to invasive comments about your family by the press! William is frazzled if he responded because it was very dumb to have done so. Guaranteed more press and a bunch of people talking about him being a colonizer while offering zero actual refutation. 100% silly amateur hour from a PR perspective. You cannot equate this to what normal people would do because these are not normal people.

I agree. I’m sure he regretted it later but he is still a young man.

Then all can agree to either continue to interact with the Sussexes or go their separate ways. Maybe that is what the Queen has in mind.

Yeah except Meghan is in her third trimester and going nowhere outside of California. On top of there being a pandemic and very little international travel. I think Charles went to Bahrain? for a funeral recently but that was it.

I can't see Charles or Camilla (who hates flying anyway) traveling because of their age. And William and Kate...well, no age excuse. And of course the Queen hasn't traveled internationally in 6+ years.

William could go to California to reconcile, but he won't. Why should he? In a normal family, it wouldn't work like that. In the BRF, it definitely wouldn't work like that.

Yeah Gayle’s boasting about receipts seems like something a cheerleader would say in a petty high school squabble. If you have evidence, then show it. Don’t play games.

Clearly H&M are saying, 'if you talk about us we will talk about you' and backing it up with some talking to know they mean business. Harry is making it clear that its more trouble than its worth to make him their shield, they will have to find someone new. Sorry Eugenie and Beatrice.

That's exactly it. Before Meghan came in, the punching bags were rotated amongst the family. Kate was mostly shielded because she hid behind her pregnancies. They'll just have to go back to doing that for those that remain on the island.

Seems like the tabloids are the ones punching the royal family.

Umm, let's just say the Royals are all taking some light hits (or were) in exchange for major dirt not being aired out by the tabloids. And of course when the tabloids want pictures or video of the royals to sell papers, the royals oblige.

No, not really. The BRF is uniquely bullied by the press, compared to other European or non-European royals. You're saying that it's a symbiotic relationship but it's more of a parasitic relationship and while the host receives some small benefits, they'd be better with no parasite.

If you think the Spanish media didn't go after Queen Letizia pre-throne you haven't read the articles.

Also oddly enough the BRF is the only royal family in the Euro-hemisphere that gets a ridiculous public salary. There's a reason the European royals have less controversy, they don't have 100+ family members living in palaces and being salaried by their monarch.

In a normal family, a brother absolutely would travel to see his brother's new home or to throw a baby shower for the expecting mom. At the very least send congratulations.

But I mean...low expectations.

After a private and public falling out?

Maybe. But I think your "expectations" aren't honest.

I wonder what accounts for the difference in Sweden and Norway's financing? And where the extra money goes? The countries share the same peninsula.

Who are the 100 family members that some keeps posting about the Queen and taxpayers supporting?

You want a list? Just look at the line of succession and where they live.

Every single person pictured (with the exception of the Sussexs) lives on palace/estate grounds paid for by the Queen. Aside from that in Kensington Palace alone - the Queen has many of her second and third cousins living - the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, and the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. None of these people have incomes and depend on royal patronage for their homes and lifestyles. All of these people have grown children and grandchildren as well.

The only people who live in Spanish royal palaces are the King, Queen, and their two daughters - the Infantas. They're so discreet they don't even live in the main royal palace.

This is their permanent home - Zarzuela Palace.

This is the Royal Palace of Madrid - 10 miles away

Why should the BRF do that when they know Harry and Meghan will leak their version of the conversation to Gayle King?

Because they want to keep the family together. Harry was one of the most beloved members of the family before the rift. He was the Queen’s favorite grandchild. You always saw him in her carriage at Royal Ascot.

Pretty sure he’s not the Queen’s favorite grandchild anymore.

If my brother publicly insinuated that I was racist, I wouldn’t be dropping by his housewarming party or whatever. Not a chance.

16:22 your chart show less than 20 adults. Diana is dead and I doubt Anne and Andrews ex spouses still live in the palace. The rest are a handful of small children. No where near 100 relatives.

Children count - especially royal ones. You think their nannies and private education comes free?

LOL PP if children don't count, why was the BRF seeking to remove Archie's royal security before he was even born?
