Not sure having the club named after the commanding Confederate general is appropriate these days.

Nothing is appropriate these days. There’s always a snowflake that is offended.

it doesn't matter, they never ask us what we want anyways. plenty of parents apparently don't care what it means, and obviously the leadership doesn't care either

Look at the Supervisor districts that make up the county. Try again, troll.

odd admission that you want the name of Robert E. Lee in your club's name (although it's good to see you're on this board as well)

I agree with you. But people who don’t want any progress love it when this is what people are fighting over versus how to get better opportunity and treatment and rights for people lacking all of that. This is exactly the culture war the right wing wants.

i don't know, i think changing the name of a sports club that shares the name guy who led the rebel army might be a decent idea. nobody is actually making an argument for keeping it, though

Because the Executive Director is also a Coach, and I've seen what happens when you get on the wrong side. Anonymity is sometimes helpful because you can at least gauge the environment. To be fair, it seems like some people are for a name change but most aren't, and to be very fair, some of the ones that aren't for a name change have been pretty rude about it. That alone would be reason enough for me to find a different club had DD not already graduated.

So, your animosity toward the ED is at the root of your trolling, and you're not even (allegedly) a member of the club any more. Got it.

The club self-identifies with Richard Henry Lee. There, fixed it. Now you can sleep at night.

Can't you just feel the love?

I saw another post and it sparked a thought... the practice numbers do seem low. I don’t know if we’re supposed to do team meetings or academy meetings concerning this; we didn’t watch the virtual town-hall so admittedly I’m a little slow on this.

Props to them for putting together covid safe practices. They should have done better to put the same level of detail on into the training program and not implement the lame academy style training using SYC reject coaches. families are leaving...wake the F$&K up

I could care less where the coaches came from and more about what the plan is. DS team is losing more teammates again this year and it’s making me rethink this academy. I’m not opposed to them academy, I just don’t think this academy is going to be best for my son playing in CCL. Practicing against a majority of NCSL-level and then playing against CCL/EDP-level. LC and JN are not addressing the needs of the club. I’d rather we play CCL2 this year to give a good experience. Another year of runaway scoring games and I don’t think my DS will want to play anymore.

To be honest, we’re considering leaving as well. I’m just worried we’ll be placed on bottom team of next club.

Just reach out to the club you are seeking. We were worried too, turns out didn’t need to. Able to attend several sessions for placement AND received plenty of help to make sure we could be seen. I do feel bad leaving, our team will take another hit (since we aren’t the only ones confirmed gone). But, we need to make the best decision for the future and it’s already looking like we made the right decision based on attendance numbers. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your next club, it’s not as difficult as you think.

PP, where did you end up? I didn’t realize clubs were doing in-person tryouts yet. FWIW, we left as well.

We looked at Springfield and Alexandria, decided on Springfield. I thought the commute would’ve been bad but honestly it isn’t difficult. We were considering McLean, but decided against it due to the commute (that was too much for us). Arlington was an option, but we didn’t really pursue.

+1, but Alexandria
