So, instead of preparing the US for the potential threat IN NOVEMBER, Trump spent months golfing, holding rallies, and when it became more public, calling it a political hoax that would disappear.

Worse, he was selling out our reserves of supplies without ordering replenishments.

Bottom line, he not only didn't prepare, he literally made it worse. American lives have been lost and destroyed, the economy is a shambles and the threats to our republic are grave.

This is not incompetence. Just the opposite, if you wanted to "burn it all down" as Bannon and Trump articulated in 2015, this is one way of doing it.

Xenophobia!! He shut down flights!!!!!! Remember when that occurred?

So Trump couldn't start stockpiling PPE because the liberals would call him xenophobic?

For that one, they would have had their investigative journalists start poring through financial disclosures for any hint of a tie to 3M or some such other company. What a grifter!!! The playbook is tired at this point.

Trump 2016: Only I can fix it. Make America Great Again!
Trump 2020: The mean liberals won't let me fix anything. Keep America Great!

Oh, Daddy Trump will still do what he wants. Libs can’t stop him. Just exposing the hypocrisy.

Yes, which is why all these excuses for why he didn't do anything don't hold water.

His initial instinct (before the nasty media got to work) was that this wouldn’t be that big of a threat or that deadly. That will be borne out when all is said and done.

We don't seem to be short of ventilators because the models are incorrect. And the reason we are short of masks, gowns and gloves is because of idiots demanding testing when they aren't sick.

We are short of masks and such because globalists decided China is the chosen manufacturer, despite the fact that these bad viruses usually originate there. Trump is also called xenophobic for wanting to move manufacturing home.

Globalists, like the Trumps, who have all of their paraphenalia, including the MAGA hats, produced in China.

Not exactly PPE, is it?

PP is right, and Trump hasn't done shit to wean us from reliance on China. You'd think for propaganda purposes alone he could get his MAGA/KAG hates made in the USA.

Basically he is like a doctor that diagnoses a heart condition accurately, and then decides it's time to cut off the foot without anesthesia or any means of attempting to staunch the bleeding.

My favorites are the Bernie Bros holding out for Medicare for All. Like that'll pass muster from SCOTUS the moment a Republican gets in office. We've become a Presidential dictatorship which might be a bit better than a SCOTUS dictatorship.

Yeah I'm supporting Bernie, because he has the best diagnosis and the cure, but I'd rather keep the patient on moprhine and an iron lung like Biden is essentially proposing.

Right, so he has an excuse that if it doesn't kill 100,000 people, it's the nasty media's fault for crashing the economy. And of course he would have been right along even though he changed his mind.

He changed his mind because he was no longer just responding to the actual threat of the virus, but a media phenomenon that had taken hold in the minds of the populace. Different type of problem and different threat posed.

He only did a limited scope of travel ban and NOTHING else. It does make you wonder what his true motive or his limited understanding of a pandemic was. Why didn't he do anything else such as testing, testing and preparing for medical supplies? Italy did a much stronger travel ban three days before Trump's. It did absolutely nothing. Trump should stop bragging about the travel ban when we are having the worst outcome of all countries.

Without widespread testing and information sharing we are certainly undercounting. For instance, in NYC around 20-25 people die at home per day on average. That number is now over 200 dying at home every single day and they are not being reported as Covid19 deaths because they don’t have the capacity to test (combination of test availability and the ME just being plain overwhelmed)

Just more excuses and failed promises. He was going to fix Washington. Instead Washington turned him into a quivering mass of jello. Not that he wasn't before, but his failure is particularly noticeable now. We needed decisive action. Instead we get, "But the media..."

The testing has been going down for the past few days. Hopefully the slightly flattening of the curve is not due to the reduced testing. We added 26,744 new cases out of 135k testing, 20% positive rate.

As of April 08, 2020, 23:17 GMT
USA 427,079 +26,744 14,665 +1,824

The curve is not really flattening as the testing has plateaued. Today we passed 500,000 cases. We added another 32,000 new cases, and 1,975 new deaths. The testing was up less than 150k from yesterday. We are still testing at 20% positive rate.

USA 501,272 +32,706 18,666 +1,975 (Last updated: April 10, 2020, 23:14 GMT)

The US now has the most Covid deaths of any country in the world, and we are not close to being done.

This is the defining legacy of the Trump Administration. Just as "Silence = Death" during the AIDS crisis of the Reagan era, "Incompetence=Death" during the Trump Administration.

To be sure, Trump will be remembered for other aspects of his stupidity and venality (the Ukraine mess, the overwhelming crassness of his children and relatives, and the sexual assaults and boorishness that preceded his election), but the botched reaction to the Covid-19 crisis leaves those misdeeds in the dust.

Future generations will ask how Americans could have lost their minds and voted such a man into office, just as Germans had to explain how they allowed Hitler to rise to power.

I got emotional after seeing these. Think of the number of families that lost their loved ones in one day... and the people who might be fighting for life in ER...

Let's understand how stark the lies from this administration are.

March 10: VP Pence promises total of 5 million tests by end of that week.
https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/white-house/article241059031.html

April 9: Trump boasts that 2 million tests have been completed: https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/01/politics/testing-backlog-coronavirus-quest-invs/index.html

We are not testing enough, and now, Trump wants to end federal testing. He is literally putting the lives of EVERY American at stake.

I almost feel bad for Ivanka and Jared's kids, who will have to live with the same and infamy for their entire lives.
