Not only do you think it’s okay to spread rumors that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted someone in high school but now you want to spread rumors that it’s standard behavior for boys at like Landon and Prep to sexually assault girls. Good grief, you are sick. And no, I’m not associated with either of those schools in any way. And I’m a moderate registered Democrat who feels like she’s lost her party.

It’s not rumors, it is allaegations. Perhaps you should actually read the article.

“Allegations” made by some anonymous person who curiously has come out of the woodwork after 30 years. And it doesn’t even sound like she is alleging something illegal. A boy tried to kiss me in high school!!!

Locking her in a room, turning up the music so people outside can’t hear her protests, forcing her onto a bed and cover her mouth with his hands, isn’t trying to kiss her.

Sounds like an ambiguous situation, at worst.

What is wrong with you?

Not the PP, but what is wrong with YOU? This is her account of a supposed incident that occurred 30 years ago. His account is that nothing of the sort ever happened. How on earth do you automatically believe her over him - with no proof, no evidence, no corroborating witnesses - NOTHING? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

That's what an investigation is for. Except that your side is convinced that there shouldn't be an investigation. Which once again sure makes you pathetic traitors look like you have something to hide.

Investigate away! Though it'll be interesting to see exactly what you're investigating, considering the woman who made this allegation refuses to be part of any investigation. The only thing an investigation will do is cement in everyone's minds how utterly ridiculous Democrats are. So go right ahead - it'll only hurt your own political party.

A moderate would wait until the investigation is finished, when everything can be known and weighed into account, and not have an immediate knee jerk reaction one way or the other. So, not buying your self depiction. You sound disengenuous.

I think it's been so long that you have had a conversation with a moderate who may legitimately disagree with you that you can no longer recognize one. Or more likely you just think no one can legitimately disagree with you.

You thought wrong. And I think you're a liar spreading propaganda.

You just proved PP's point.
-Not the PP

No, I didn't. But you proved mine. Your own posts make it obvious that neither you nor the PP are "moderate", no matter how many times you desparately claim you are in am effort to influence public opinion.

This is funny, considering there are many people posting here, yet you seem certain you're only conversing with two. The only people who are taking this anonymous allegation seriously are liberals, desperately trying to find something to prevent Kavanaugh's confirmation. It's disgusting behavior.

An anonymous woman alleges Kavanaugh held her down. That's pretty much it. An allegation. How would you go about proving what she says is true?

In Maryland, there is no Statue of Limitations, and if found guilty, there is mandatory jail time.

And how would he be "found guilty"? Do tell.

Perfectly sums up what sane people are thinking about this.

A rushed confirmation process for a lifeteam position, for no apparent reason, is not "sane". You are no judge of sanity.

In what way is this "rushed"? Every senator has had ample time to speak privately with Kavanaugh - and yet, there was never any mention of this letter. Now that it looks like he will be confirmed, voila! A letter is presented! Ridiculous. If they had concerns earlier, they should have brought it up then.

He was 17 and the alleged behavior, while regrettable, stops well short of what reasonably ought to derail a nomination some 35 years later. If you disagree, please detail all the work you’ve been doing over the years to eliminate protections for juveniles to ensure minors are treated as adults by the judicial system.

I am a lawyer. And, the system is not fair if white boys get off for what black boys go to jail for. Plain and simple. Is that too hard a concept for your trumpian mind?

Is there a black man who has gone to jail for an anonymously alleged crime committed 30+ years ago, with no evidence or witnesses? Do tell!

Ah, you’re right sixty years and more ago, they were tortured to death for even looking at the wrong woman.

All we want is an investigation.

I find it interesting that liberals consistently have the worst possible scenarios on the brain when it comes to sex. And men. The sordid stories you concoct are very telling.

Only the biggest (functional) narcissists rise to the heights of power and wealth. Why do you so many degenerate CEOs are getting ousted by the MeToo movement? This is a defining trait of leaders’ characters.

You do realize that far more CEOs, etc. have *not* been accused of sexual misconduct, than those who have, right? That's quite a sweeping generalization there.

Yep. I remember something similar happening to me at that age. I'm not about to dredge it up now, 30 yrs. later. This is beyond idiotic.

Maybe you should. It sounds like you still have some open psychological wounds that haven't healed.

Interesting, because I hadn't given it much (if any) thought over the past 30 years. It would be very peculiar if I had.

Thought processes happen in mysterious ways. I hope this doesn't shake loose any traumatizing memories. You really should talk to a psychologist about it now that the memories are resurfacing. You clearly haven't moved past it, no matter how many times you try to will it away.

You're right... I desperately need a safe space because this thread is so triggering. Thanks for projecting your deep insecurities onto a perfect stranger.

Must suck for his family.

I wonder if more women will come forward.

This is 2018. What you want is revenge for heinous acts that occurred decades ago. You don't want real justice. You just want revenge.

I disagree. If the President can be taped saying, just grab them by the pussy and they let you AND still be elected, then sure . . . the bar seems to be pretty low. But this is significant, if only because it may encourage more women to come forward. The power of #metoo has never been based upon equating various unwanted sexual advances with rape. It's been in the cumulative force of several voices testifying to repeated incidences of men feeling entitled to take what they want, when they want it, regardless of someone else's feelings and desires. And that behavior to me seems ethically significant.

Given your choice of adjective, wouldn't you want revenge/punishment/justice? If this had happened to you, would you want your aggressor to become a Supreme Court judge while everyone pooh-poohs what you went through?

But I agree this smells on the face of it. I find Feinstein's motives here are quite obscure. Why did she wait so long, when she had the letter in June? Did she think it would have more power now? Or did she seek to hide the information until other Democrats pressured her?

The worst that could happen is that this woman's accusations are true and that they are discounted. But how on earth can we tell???

Let's just stop giving our dear little boys everything they want. Or they'll become men who are entitled to have whatever (or whomever) they want.

Think about how parents are creating entitled children... who usually become entitled adults.

Think about it.

He's also written books on his teenage alcoholism and the orthodox Catholic sexual culture at Georgetown Prep. Google and you can find the story of how he lost his virginity after yet another drunken Georgetown Prep party.

He also didn’t deny that this happened.

"Kavanaugh’s classmate said of the woman’s allegation, 'I have no recollection of that.'"

It's possible he doesn't recall because he was drunk, but that in no way lets Kavanaugh off the hook.

Equally as possible that the woman was drunk and misremembers. Or that she was trying to have sex with Kavanaugh and has second thoughts after he laughed at her and therefore called it “rape.”

And then she sought psychotherapy for it? Not likely.
