Lupita Nyongo is one of the latest, with a piece in the NYT today.

Can someone please post a link to this from the NYT?
Maybe also some exerpts. Thank you.

Okay it took me 4 seconds to Google “Lupita New York Times.” Sorry your device doesn’t have that capacity. Here you go:

So weird. He told her to come to his bedroom at his house so he could massage her. She didn't want to, but instead of saying no and leaving she offered to give him a massage instead...and that was seemingly fine until he took off his pants.

Did he abuse his power? Yes. But that was apparently very easy since many women were seemingly okay with crossing uncomfortable lines in order to curry favor and hopefully land a role. That doesn't make what he did right, but it certainly makes you wonder why these women went along with this. Lupita's situation and many of the others are obviously different from the reported incidents of actual rape. Lupita's situation wasn't rape...she offered to give him a massage.

I understand the power differential, but she and many others had a choice. They picked career opportunities with Weinstein instead of protecting their morals.

Please stop with the victim blaming. Stop with judgment regarding "morals." It's so convenient to sit back and say, "Well I just don't understand how that woman could have put herself in that position..." Go back to the article. Print it out and underline all the parts where he attempted to bully her into doing something she didn't want to do. Underline the parts where he asserted his power.
If you're a man, you have no idea what it's like to go through the world where you're constantly getting messages to just go along, not make a fuss, don't be a bitch, etc. And if you're a woman, PP, I guess you should count yourself lucky that you've never been in a situation where you said to yourself, "I'm really uncomfortable right now, but maybe if I just go along for a little bit, I can get myself out of this."

There's a point at which we need to stop being victims. When he pushed her to order a drink, she should have walked out at that very moment:

“Why not?” I remember him asking. “Because I don’t like vodka, and I don’t like diet soda, and I don’t like them together,” I said. “You are going to drink that,” he insisted. I smiled again and said that I wouldn’t. He gave up and called me stubborn. I said, “I know.” And the meal proceeded without much further ado. In this second encounter with Harvey, I found him to be pushy and idiosyncratic more than anything.

At what point do actresses place their safety and self-respect above their jobs?

Now they're banning together and speaking out, which is good. Hopefully, this will turn the tide. But unless women say NO at the start - and then start to network en masse with other women - change will be slow or non-existent.

Where is the federal investigation??

There will not be a federal investigation. He has already paid out a bunch of women. I am sure there was something the women had to sign protecting him from future lawsuits or criminal actions(as in consensual relationship). This stuff is really hard to prove in court. There will be more women coming forward but I doubt anymore paid outs. Nothing else will happen.

There will not be a federal investigation because no federal laws have been violated. Only state laws have been violated and police in 2 states - CA and NY -- have opened investigations. Whether these result in prosecution, pay out/settlement or what is unknown at this time.

Interesting. There's nothing noble about saying you knew but didn't say something. All this means is that Tarantino put greed before morals...which I believe makes him complicit.

Agree. That was a disturbing article to read. Tarantino put his body of work before the bodies of women.

Matt Damon and George Clooney were interviewed on GMA and commented. IMHO it was clear they were spinning to make themselves look good. Damon said he knew about Paltrow but still proceeded to make films with Harvey. Gross.

This is new. You know these men have raped countless girls/young women. Bastards.

So True. It took twenty years to bring one Hollywood powerhouse down. They are all still protecting each other.

The actress was raped and later went for an audition and Harvey showed up in his bathrobe and his assistant started performing oral sex on him. The actress started yelling at them and they laughed at her and that was the end of her career. The Weinstein Company and entire board should be help responsible for sexual harassment and job discrimination.

Who is Ellen Weinstein?

Lisa Bloom is a phony. She threatened to leak Rose McGowans sexual history to discredit her allegations against Weinstein. Harvey is now going to sue The Weinstein Company. All a bunch of sick phonies in NY and LA protecting each other.

Harvey is gone, now Hollywood is cleaned up. Nothing more to see, folks...
