| I mentioned this before in this thread, but it bears repeating that there have been studies on what happens if you remove affirmative action from college admissions. The only race that benefits are Asians. For white people it's a wash. |

No one cares about this. They just want to make sure that poor black Jamal who managed to get a 1400 on the SAT while going to an underperforming school and helping his single mom care for his younger siblings doesn't take white, suburban, two-parent household Johnny's slot at UVA, because Johnny took 2 AP classes and got a 1420 on the SAT so he obviously is more deserving. |
You can adjust priorities/money to supplement your child's education to compete with other high achievers. You can't change your child's race. |
Shared adversity brings people together. By shutting out minorities from institutions of higher learning in the attempt to preserve and protect white power and preeminence the inevitable reaction from those otherwise excluded minorities is obvious - alliance. Now THAT would be interesting to say the least. I'm eager to see this come to fruition. |
You don't know if I'm "objectively wrong" because you haven't seen the data. What I said was that at any given test score/GPA combo, poor kids have higher admission rates to elite schools than wealthy kids do. I didn't say that there are more poor kids or first gen kids than black kids. The issue here is not that poor white kids only have one hook, as you put it. The issue is that very few poor white kids (or poor black kids for that matter) apply to elite schools. The main reason why there are so few of them in any given class at Harvard is because so few of them apply. When poor kids do apply with reasonable credentials, they are admitted at high rates. As this study notes: "For every high-achieving, low-income student who applies, there are 15 high-achieving, high-income students applying to selective colleges." https://www.brookings.edu/bpea-articles/the-missing-one-offs-the-hidden-supply-of-high-achieving-low-income-students/ |
Your sterotypes about black kids make you sound a bit racist TBH. |
Well why do you insist that blacks should agree white barbarian rapists as their ancestors? |
Are you saying that white people will adjust their priorities/money to compete with Asians? |
This PP has nothing on the "blacks have no excuse" PP. |
I don't know if you're talking about me, but if didn't say blacks have no excuse. I said it would be better if they stopped focusing on focusing on excuses for their problems and directed their energy toward what they can change themselves. Number one is intact families and married parents. |

Can someone please post the data that show white students are not going to college because black students took all their spots?
Thanks. |
Which poster said white kids aren't going to college because black kids took all their spots? |
Doesn't really matter who said it in this thread...the Department of Justice obviously suspects it so they took action. |
Nowhere did I indicate that all black kids fit these stereotypes. In fact, none of the black kids I went to college with did, though one of my closer friends came pretty close to the above. Also, most white kids don't fit the above stereotype either. But these are two extreme, albeit realistic, scenarios that are intended to illustrate a point. But okay, fine, call me racist. |
