Deportation impact

One of the only comments on this thread making a point related to the schools in question. PP probably won't see this comment, but I'm curious which of the schools was being referenced--Justice or Falls Church?

You think there are only two schools in FCPS with this problem?

Of course not, but the thread started with a question about those two schools. Of course this is DCUM where no one is capable of staying on topic for very long as you just proved.

How many millions did Dhs pay to all the families who had kids separated. Now let’s do it again?

“In January 2021, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors adopted the Public Trust and Confidentiality Policy, known as “the Trust Policy,”  to “reaffirm current county policy and improve community health, welfare, safety, security, and trust by ensuring that immigrant residents can access county services without fear that the information they share will be disclosed to federal immigration officials,” according to the county’s official website.” Retrieved from:
https://www.fairfaxtimes.com/articles/fairfax_county/recent-crimes-again-raise-concerns-about-county-s-sanctuary-policy/article_237e17fc-5b3a-11ef-b659-d368a63c62b7.html

As a result of this change, massive illegal migration has been drawn to our county, flooding our resources and overcrowding our schools, all at the taxpayer expense. FCPS provides a list of some of these resources in its website:
https://www.fcps.edu/services/community-healthcare-resources

Prioritizing the needs of illegal immigrants over those of Fairfax residents is unacceptable. Taxpayers shouldn’t have to be required to drive around town in a medical emergency to locate a hospital whose ER can admit them because most of them are already full to capacity.

Contrary to some previous comments, recent illegal immigration doesn’t contribute to the county’s revenue, as most of these newcomers don’t generate any income, nor pay any taxes. And why should they, because additional to receiving free housing, medical care, and food stamps, they also receive large amounts of cash. We don’t need a Finance degree to understand who is footing the bill for all of this, or why our schools are overcrowded.

At this point, not even the most progressive virtual signaling crowd can justify this disparity. And, to the taxpayers who have had enough, watching our school Superintendent receive a salary increase that is close to a teacher’s starting salary, paired with the irresponsible spending on pet projects of our school board, January 20th couldn’t come soon enough.

Yes! The ER waiting rooms are packed to capacity now; it's completely unacceptable.

I am very disappointed that Youngkin didn't do anything at the state level to address all these issues listed above. I hope his political career is over once his term ends.

Don’t blame it on Youngkin. Blamed the Dems who managed to block all of his initiatives.

All these people need to go

Not all of them are problematic but if I had to choose ditching all of them or none of them. I'd definitely throw them all out.

Eh, I voted Dem up until this election. I’m sick of the leftist school board and my compassion well has run dry. It’s been used up on all the F’ing equity bs.

You’re talking about detaining and deporting children from the only homes they’ve known. Respectfully, I don’t think this was a particularly deep well at the outset.

Nah, they can all go together.

Yeah? We can deport U.S. citizens with their non-citizen family members? What a great insight into the depths of your “compassion”

If the parents committed the crime of entering illegally and have a child who is a citizen, the compassionate thing to do is to pay for the child to be transported with the parents and keep the family together.

Americans who commit crimes go to jail, whether they have children or not and no one cries about "don't separate the family!"

In the case that their citizen children have other family who are citizens willing to care for them, that is an option the parents can use. That's what happens to Americans. They commit crimes and their children go to aunt, grandpa, or cousin if both parents are jailed. We don't allow them to remain free and untouched because they have children.

And if the children aren’t legal citizens of the first country, having been born in the United States? You think the U.S. should pay for individuals to commit crimes?

Look, when you guys were talking about people committing crimes, I had sympathy for your views. If you were talking about the appalling conditions in meat packing factories which are allowed to persist because undocumented workers don’t have recourse to complain about them, I’d think you had a really good point.

But you’re talking about ripping kids out of classrooms and putting them in detention centers. I hope your children are proud of you.

We're not making that choice. The parents made that choice when they came here. They can return to their home country at any time and attempt return legally.

See this is MAGA~no empathy, no kindness...just a lot of hate and greed. Jesus would be so proud

What greed? What hate?

Expecting laws to be followed is showing lack of empathy? You sound unhinged.

Expecting infants or toddlers to “obey laws” is what’s unhinged. That’s who is in schools with your kids now. Not people who knowingly broke any laws coming here. That’s who you’re being asked to show empathy for.

We can be empathetic, but we don’t need to reward the parents for illegal behavior because they have children. They can be deported with the parents.

You can? There’s no evidence of it here. You don’t want to target criminals, agribusinesses, not even gangs. This thread is about wanting people who had no say in coming here dragged out of your child’s classrooms and detained and deported. Truly I hope you’re either a bot or deeply ashamed.

DP. What? That's exactly what we all want - anyone with a shred of common sense, that is. What are you even talking about?

Here you are on the **Fairfax County Public Schools** board talking about the impact on test scores and teacher attention of taking kids out of their classrooms and throwing them in detention centers.

You want to target illegal immigration? Your perpetrators are Tyson’s and Purude, who not only employ undocumented workers, let children as young as 13 work in conditions so bad they result in the loss of limbs, which of course is totally illegal but what is an undocumented kid supposed to say about it.

But I bet you would be thrilled to have the CEO of Tyson’s invite your kid over.

You must be unaware of the gangs that have infiltrated Fairfax county and surrounding areas.

But here you are arguing to keep them here because they procreated.

I’ve lived in Fairfax under three presidents and every time heard how there’s a horrible gang problem and never once heard a suggestion that deporting children would help.

So you are suggesting that we separate the American born children of these gang members from their parents? Or should they stay together in the parents home country? Won't our kids shun us for ripping their friends out of the classroom??

Maybe the immediate post is partly in jest.. But no, your kids won't "shun" you. Perhaps you could use it as a teaching moment to encourage your own kids to know and obey the laws they live under. Put another way: the American-born children of these 'gang members" should not be used as anchor babies to keep their criminal parents in our country. They could bring their kids to their own country, which might be better for all concerned. If they go to jail for their crimes here, we end up paying for both the incarceration of the parents and the basic needs of the children. By the way, children of US-born criminals get separated from their parents too; it's an unfortunate part of the criminal lifestyle.

Don’t kid yourself. If large-scale mass deportation did happen (and it won’t because the people benefiting from undocumented workers are wealthy donors not MC suburban internet warriors) it would be a generational event and the children of those who supported it would view their parents the way children looked at parents who participated in other atrocities.

This definitely won't happen.

+ 1 Also, I would have a much harder time explaining to my kids if one of them was criminally victimized by an undocumented immigrant. https://www.nbcnews.com/investigations/13000-immigrants-convicted-homicide-living-freely-us-ice-data-rcna173125. That's would be tough.

As to the rest, we can explain why people here illegally to begin with went home (or were deported if it comes to that). Not sure why so many on DCUM are on the aide of the rule breakers. We have a country; it needs a secure border. We have labor needs; we need to have problems to meet those as well, but lawfully. I don't disagree with those who believe employers should be on the hook as well, but sometimes immigrants present fake documents.

I think some people are against anything and everything Trump supports. The problem is they are often against something but not for anything else, which is why they lost the election.

Immigration was one of the top three issues based on the postmortem analysis. Democrats are just on the wrong side of this issue. Before the election most also said they wanted people here illegally deported and it they voted accordingly.

THIS ^^

This.

So many people on here claiming we will lose necessary workers working jobs Americans won’t do.

I don’t care. Millions of people coming to the US who are POOR, bring no assets and use our healthcare, schools and infrastructure are way more of a strain than the construction industry losing workers.

I want them all kicked out.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

People are more valuable than their possessions.

We do not have an unlimited ability to absorb immigrants so we need well enforced immigration laws but without immigrants we would have the same demographic problem facing Japan, Korea and China.

We probably need a million new immigrants every year and they don't all have to be nurses and engineers.

Don't let the illegal immigration crisis turn into a general anti-immigrant sentiment.

Real charges from any person or company employing illegals would end the problem yesterday. If executives walked out in hand cuffs any time a business was raided to arrest illegals, they would stop hiring them

Fck the racists but sanctuary cities were hiding illegal aliens held in custody for crimes (not necessarily violent crimes but crimes nonetheless)

Not true that they aren't violent crimes. Fairfax county recently released a rapist who is here illegally.

Ok - NewsMax I'll bite; why would the Fairfax Police release a rapist? Because he is illegal?

The sanctuary state/city only means that the police wont report you if you report a crime. The hell sanctuary cities evolved from stemmed from the fact: illegal women were getting raped and were not coming forward. This is still a problem where Native American women are stilling getting raped - the Tribal police do not have jurisdiction outside Tribal lands. So, rapists found easy targets.

I grew up and lived in Fairfax County for 43+ years; you know with all the problems why I keep voting Democrat? I remember the extreme racism that Republicans just tolerated. I was in Fairfax part of Alexandria shortly after the time period "Remember the Titans" was set on. I've seen the brutality, unfairness, and arrogance that the Republicans keep bringing. You want the sway the Democrats? Go after the racist and rapists that happen to be white. Better illegals than racists - any day! Actually it was covered in local news. He raped a child and the sheriff released him back into the community . Your sanctuary city policies and tax dollars at work.
