I don't see many big differences other than the new site doesn't have a big ECNL crest/logo.

Yet every link on that page takes you to ECNL information.

Is “NVA Select” new? If you click on one of the links it shows a pyramid with Loudoun and Valor on the bottom, then NVA Select in the middle, and then NVA ECNL at the top. I’d never heard of NVA Select.

its not a newpage. The first link provided is where you get to if you navigate to "About Us" and then to "FAQS and Documents" from the second link. its been a page on that site for a long time.

no its something DS started at Valor to make parents think there kids were on a pathway to be selected. In the end its mostly loudoun kids and kids hand selected by the TD

How many kids from neither Loudoun nor Valor end up on NVA teams? Does being on a Valor team give a kid any sort of inside track to making an NVA team compared to a kid from outside either club? Obviously they are looking to put together the best teams they can, but wondering if things like internal ID sessions and coach input help a kid get extra consideration compared to someone who just shows up at a couple of practices or at tryouts.

I'm curious how this works for any ECNL club that has an "alliance", not just NVA.

This thread includes ref to January Best of the East tournament - to compare ECNL and MLS Next performance. See below, they compared all 57 games. Against each other, ECNL won more often than MLS Next, but not by much. Doesn’t change the fact that moving to the other league may be better choice.

For Valor, it’s getting better each year. Definitely some growing pains. 2013s have weekly joint practices between clubs and other items for shared looks. NVA select has valor and loudoun kids based on skill. They practice with ecnl occasionally. No clue about other clubs.

"Alliances" are meaningless, marketing gimmicks in an attempt to fool silly parents to separate them from their hard earned cash. There is ZERO advantage being part of the alliance, unless you are part of the primary club (e.g., Loudoun in the example you noted).

almost none from valor. Valor does not develop players. NVA is predominantly loudoun players. The alliance is a farce.

The post for NVA ID sessions makes no mention of ECNL. Something must be brewing! Does this add more uncertainty to their plans for next year?
