RFKjr Tapped to Head HHS

Wild how the Republicans have done a total 180 degrees from cursing Michelle Obama out for trying to get kids eating healthier and Sarah Palin defiantly holding up a 64oz Big Gulp declaring dems will have to take her soda from her cold dead hands.

Republicans don't actually stand for anything anymore. It's all just knee jerk reactionary bullshit and whatever the Orange Guy says on a particular day when the wind is blowing a particular direciton is now their gospel and they have zero memory or perspective on what it was they believed in the day before.

This thread does not want to address why thousand and thousands of highly educated and experienced docs recommend a vaccine schedule for their patients. Choose your advice wisely.

The USDA is in charge of food stamps, not HHS.

And Trump and Congressional republicans don’t want it to be better. Getting Big Pharma out and rehabilitating our food system is not a new idea. Folks should watch some of the documentaries already out about this.

I am as negative on Big Pharma as the next person, but that and the food system are not really the problem. Average Americans can navigate eating real food if they actually spend time on it to educate themselves and do the work necessary to not live a life of ultimate convenience. But they aren't going to do that. So it really doesn't matter what "systematic" things are in place - it just makes a bad outcome worse.

Educate ourselves and then what? It's pretty frustrating to go to a grocery store and try to buy basic, mundane items like a loaf of sandwich bread only to find loaf after loaf that lists like 5 grams of sugar per serving. NOT NEEDED yet our food industry forces this crap on us, and we don't have that many other good options - unlike Europe and other countries which have corner bakeries that sell good, fresh, cheap bread that isn't loaded with preservatives, the only other option being making everything from scratch, and most of us don't have the time for that because husband and wife are both working, plus side gigs, raising kids and whatever else just to afford the overpriced housing we have.

Do people REALLY think Trump and RFK Jr. are going to fix all of this? They voted for them to fix it so...

The typical MAGA is chock full of notions about what needs to be changed yet they don't even understand what they are talking about.

I think it's harder than it seems. You have to play detective a bit because even things that look healthy have bad ingredients in them. Yes, DCUM people might be especially educated, but the average person buying sliced whole wheat bread and almond milk doesn't know these are bad for them. Same with "healthy" cereal bars, a baguette from the grocery store...It's not really that obvious!

Far better that they eat those things than soda, chips, and fast food.

Big pharma is why my mother has meds that help alleviate and slow her Parkinson's. Or do you think if she just ate some more raw food she'd no longer have this degenerative disease?

Anyway

Surely you have come across folks that think every disease and condition can be treated with diet and supplements. It is exhausting and dull. I always say I have to go and could you just email me the info.

I am PP and same. My mother - the one with Parkinson's - had a cancer scare a while ago, and one of her crunchiest friends called me hysterically shouting that my mom had to go onto a raw vegan diet immediately. Meanwhile that friend died mysteriously right at the beginning of COVID (which was horrible) - thank the lord my mom is still here fighting the good fight every day. I am a vegetarian myself but she can eat whatever stupid hamburgers she wants. And thank gd she has the meds that keep her here with us.

Doctors also recommend every pill, surgery, test and medical intervention that they can. That's how they make money.

What's more interesting is what doctors do with themselves and their own kids...

Once you start thinking about doctors as mechanics that work on people, it all starts to make sense.

Why is my doc recommending a vaccine schedule? She does not even necessarily make money since we all go to the pharmacy or the supermarket half the time to get vaccines. My kids would need a lot more medical attention and she would make more money if they got a bunch of childhood diseases in fact. Maybe even some big fat hospital bills.
