It doesn't feel like enthusiasm. It feels like blind rage mixed with fake bravado. It just feels aggro. And the crowd isn't just mostly white -- it is dominated by men. Like by a lot. It's weird to have a political rally that is this skewed.

A lot of the speakers have really extensive and weird looking plastic surgery. And not just the women or the Trumps. Tucker looks pinched and tucked in an uncomfortable way. Elon looks like an alien. It's uncanny valley stuff. If it was 1998 and you saw footage of this you'd be like "what is wrong with their faces -- why would anyone do this."

Regarding the "substance" they just repeat the same easily disproven lies over and over. A key talking point is that "they" tried to kill Trump. The implication is that of course the Democrats did it but he was shot at by a registered Republican with mental health issues.

The racism isn't just dog whistles. It's just open and contemptuous. They are saying that democrats are trying to "replace" Americans with immigrants. The comedian with all the racist lines was egregious but it's in line with the rest of the rally. They use words like "invasion" and "lowlifes" to describe immigrants and people who live in cities (while also praising NYC and claiming Trump "made" the city). It's very creepy.

Anyway Trump is talking now and he has less energy than most of the speakers who preceded him. He speaks in this dull monotone. The only person less convincing was melania who appeared to read her speech without comprehending it.

I just don't understand what is compelling about this unless you've just given up on life. It's offensive yes. But it's also just a bummer and extremely depressing.

I’m an immigrant and I’m not for open boarders. But how any immigrant could vote for Trump, esp. us non Anglo ones, baffles me. The writing is on the wall. He means you too, people. Is it denial? Leopards Ate My Face syndrome incoming for these people…

No one is for open borders. If there were open borders, then interdictions and apprehensions would be down to zero, and there would be no deportations. Instead, all of those are up under Biden.

+1 And a lot of democrats have been calling for a LONG time to fix our immigration system so that instead of having lots of people sneaking into the country for jobs or to escape political unrest we could have processes in place that would allow people in on work visas and keep track of them and also place reasonable limits on how many come in at once.

A huge part of what is broken with our immigration system is that a lot of illegal immigration should actually just be legal and controlled. And if you do that then you can actually take advantage of what is great about immigration while also controlling what can be bad about it.

But whenever we try to address this issue we get locked in a debate with people who just hate immigrants. If the Immigration bill had passed it would have made some strides in this direction but it got shut down by Trumpers in Congress (after they'd supported it!) even though it included tons of provisions for limiting and controlling immigration.

Trump and his party don't actually want to solve the immigration crisis. They want to use it get people to vote for them. They love the crowds of migrants at the border because they can turn them into a bogeyman to scare people with. Once you actually talk about solving the problem they get bored.

Democrats are NOT in favor of "open borders" and all the crap that Republicans claim. Democrats want reforms to fix a lot of the problems. Remember, it was Trump's loyalists in Congress who shut down the Bipartisan Border Bill and then lied about it claiming it was a bad bill when in fact it addressed many things their own House bill didn't.

Democrats want solutions. Republicans just want to grandstand on the problem and hurl blame everywhere without actually fixing it.

Any Republican voting for Republicans because they think they have the answers and will fix it are kidding themselves. That's already been proven.

This is absolute BS. The first thing Biden did in office was open up the border with executive orders. He was open about it at the time. Harris insisted the border was secure. Stop trying to rewrite history because your candidate is tacking to the center to try to garner votes.

These twits really do think no one will call them out on their lies.

Point out the part about open borders.

Well, let's see, the Dems are so desperate to not lose because of this border issue, that they repeatedly point to the recent bill, which ALLOWS 5,000 illegal immigrants a day before measures are taken. Sounds pretty open to me, and also proves at the same time that they can stop the flow when they want to.

This isn't true at all. Do you genuinely just get your news from Trump's Twitter account?

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/does-new-immigration-bill-5000-illegal-border-crossings-per-day-rcna136656

From your article, which you may want to read:

"Under the new immigration bill, the Department of Homeland Security could close the border if too many migrants were showing up with asylum claims. After negotiators conferred with the Border Patrol and officials at the Department of Homeland Security, they crafted the legislation to give DHS the authority to close the border if they reached a seven-day average of 4,000 or more border encounters. A seven-day average of 5,000 or more would mandate a border closure. If the number exceeded 8,500 in a single day, there would also be a mandatory border closure."

Ok, go on...next define what a border encounter is.

Continue to play coy while we watch you lose this election because of this very issue.

So you don’t know what a border encounter is.

It means that only the white and Aryan are the true French, or Americans, as the case may be. Only the Christians (of the right denomination, possibly).

They don't tell you now, because they want everyone to vote for them. The candidates (Trump, or Marine Le Pen) make sure to have a token Black or Arab or Jew prominently in their entourage. But if they ever get to power... they will start peeling away the people they see as inferior. All the people of color. All the non-heterosexuals. All the non-Christian religions.

Just like the Nazis did. If that's OK with you, then you are a White Supremacist too.

If anybody was unclear on that before, Trump and team made that crystal clear tonight.

This is simply another attempt by people already voting for Dems to fake offense in an attempt to gain more votes. Pathetic really.

A "border encounter" is not the same as illegal immigration and this provision is specifically about people showing up with asylum claims -- meaning people who are *applying* to enter the country legally via asylum. The provisions for border closure have to do with the ability of DHS to process the asylum claims. Processing the claims does automatically mean allowing the applicant in -- they may be turned away. So this provision is more about ensuring that DHS is not so inundated with asylum claims that it produces an unacceptable backlog (which is what has been happening the last few years). It actually says nothing about how many people are actually admitted into the country. And the provision has nothing to do with illegal immigration -- the bill did not specify any level of illegal immigration as acceptable and it certainly wasn't 5000 per day.

I know Trump and his supporters like to pretend that the border crisis was somehow created by Democrats but actually the reason there are so many people at our southern border has to do with geopolitical issues over which the US president doesn't actually have control. People are showing up because they feel it's their best option. And many of them are turned away. Even looking at illegal immigration Biden deported 1.1m people last year. No one is advocating for an open border. But the reality is that many people are showing up and we have to figure out what to do with them because a wall or opening fire or whatever right-wing fantasy some of you are advocating for is not actually going to stop the flow of migrants -- they are coming because they have nowhere else to go.

Why would Trump invite a comedian like this to his rally though. Why is a Trump rally the right venue for "distasteful comedy." That guy can tell whatever offensive jokes he wants but I don't understand why he was at the rally when the organizers obviously knew this was what his comedy is like.

packed I tell ya

DP. It's kind of sad that you have to post a picture of this evening when the streets were indeed packed today - which is what Eric Trump was referring to.

That post was real time of the area in front of MSG where people like you were claiming there were thousands of people and jumbotrons. I'll believe my eyes, and not the habitual lies of the MAGAs.

Do you know what "DP" means? I am not the first PP. I was simply stating that the streets were overflowing with crowds today and in the video below, you can see the crowds outside MSG as the rally is taking place. And btw, MSG was packed to the gills. You might as well just admit that there were enormous crowds there today - so much so that the NYPD had helicopters, drones, and counterterrorism forces at the ready. Move on.

Or maybe there were actual Jewish people attending the rally because they like Trump. Like the Holocaust survivor that was in attendance tonight.

The PP is so obviously low-information. Just plain stupid.

This might be hard for you to comprehend, because you’re not very smart, but… inviting a Holocaust survivor is their way of attempting to defuse any criticism about the Nazi undertones of the rally. It’s the whole “I can’t be racist because I have a black friend” thing.

The good news is that many of us are smarter than you, and we see through it.

Nothing to do with being “soft.” People are calling out the racist BS. Stop trying to minimize it. I can laugh at myself and poke fun of my culture. This wasn’t it, lady.
