You can read her website since you clearly have internet access. But to sum up why I’ll be voting for her— she’s running on protecting my right and the rights of my daughters and nieces to access healthcare and not bleed to death in bathrooms or land in the ICU because we’ve been denied basic care.

How is she going to do that? It's a state-by-state basis after Dobbs, and she as president will have no control over the states that have stripped the rights of your daughters and nieces. She isn't Congress and the president isn't a monarch. What is she going to do? The rights are already stripped - Democrats whom I voted for let that happened when they refused to codify Roe.

It's a serious question. How is she going to do that?

We’re hoping that Thomas and Alito kick the bucket so she can appoint new SCOTUS and change the balance again.

Her platform is “hope two people die while my party controls the Senate”?

You can’t be serious.

And, again, as someone who votes for Dems…the conservatives are smart enough to time their justices’ retirements. Unlike RBG.

Seriously, for the party of constitutional democracy, pushing through this nominee without an open convention and then making a bunch of empty promises that cannot materialize under the constitution, this is sending quite the message.

If you want moderates to stay home in November, this is a great way to do it.

Like I’ve said, you’ve got the internet, read her website.

For me, for my husband, for every parent of a daughter I know, it would be sufficient to vote against Trump to protect our bodies and our children. You want more? Start reading.

Protect from what? Look at the state of this country and the world after 4 years of democrats running things.

Losing their mother when a wanted pregnancy goes septic?

Losing their fertility when an ectopic pregnancy isn’t treated?

Eighteen years of child support for our boys when a college hookup gets pregnant and can’t terminate?

And god forbid— a lifetime connection to a rapist if one of our daughters is denied an abortion. Rapists do not lose parental rights.

No thank you.

Nice fear-mongering.
Guess this is the most important issue to you. The right to kill a fetus.

Most of us are more concerned with the daily challenges that the Democrats have brought to our country.

NP. Emergencies happen during pregnancy ALL THE TIME. I had an emergency surgery during my first trimester… these laws around abortion make doctors hesitate and keep their hands tied and it’s scary. The fetus can’t have more rights than the mother.

In which state is abortion illegal when the life of the mother is at risk?

Have you ever heard of a woman named Kate Cox?

Answer my question. In which state is abortion illegal when the life of the mother is at risk? Anecdotes don't count.

Your question is a stupid one. The smart question is “where do state laws on abortion put the mother at risk” and you don’t seem clever enough to ask it.

The question really is, "which state doesn't give control over to lawyers to determine when the mother's life is at risk?"

Etopic pregnancies get treatment. This kind of false narrative makes me so unhappy, because it’s wrong to lie to people to try to justify your opinion. I can’t do that. You should not either. If you have to lie to people to try and convince them you are “right,” it’s time to reflect.

Many red states have to wait until it ruptures, endangering the mother’s life and destroying her galloping tube (her fertility for those of you in states without sex Ed). The abortion pill you want outlawed? It’s how you trea an ectopic pregnancy you catch. You take the pill. Without the pill, you abdominal surgery, and, again, high change the woman loses her fallopian tube.

None but they keep saying it’s about saving women’s life with abortion. An ectopic pregnancy is not the same as abortion at will for no good reason at 5 months pregnant

Then why are the red state laws treating them the same?

Kamala Harris+DNC raised $81 million in 24 hours.

Of the 888,000 donors who gave to Kamala Harris in the last 24 hours, *60%* made their *first* contribution.

That's roughly *532,800* Americans who went out of their way to donate to Kamala's campaign.

We're gonna crush the fascists. Be scared, be very scared.

All in for Kamala Harris!

Trump is toast.

With support in general for Dems esp running v Trump who is basically the evil incarnate for most, she will have the momentum to win. I truly believe this.

This thread should be saved because once she gets elected everyone will hate her. She has a record of incompetence and when your own staff is disloyal you have innate probs.

GOP will be strong in '28 for sure. They will kill the Dems. We may delay a few years MAGA from taking over but Kamala is not the savior all believe. She is the best sub for Biden and I suppose the one that is most logical and convenient. She's a woman and diversity candidate. She's right person right time. No bearing on whether she's actually going to be a good fit. I'm very pessimistic and sad she's the only one we have. On so many levels the Dems deserve their debacle having gone with Biden Kamala. Foresight is wisdom which the Dems truly lack.

Our country is doomed. Maybe not in 24 but certainly long term.

55% of white women voted for Trump in 2016. He’s good.

And he only pulled 42% in 2020. He ain't got this.

And that was before Dobbs

You realize that millions of women agree with Dobbs, right?

The Dems don’t know how to read the room. They can’t fathom that most Americans agree that federal dollars shouldn’t fund abortion and abortion should be left to the states and banned after the first few months.

The Dems are crazy and think most of the country agrees abortion should be federal law and made legal even to the 9th month if need be. Most Americans do not agree with the Democrats about abortion at all

No one wants abortion at nine months except to save the mother’s life.

. . . .

Well, yes. We all agree.

But can we also all agree that mental health / mental well-being issues can be life-threatening to the mother?

This could possibly be the most deluded take on this message board all year. This is award-winning bad.

It also completely ignores the reality of what red states actually kid. All went with 6 weeks. Many have no exceptions or ones that are impossible to actually get. Idaho was medicating 1-2 dying women a week out because their doctors were fraud to terminate pregnancies even when the mother was dying.

If you want 12-15 weeks with reasonable exception, you should have passed that. Why would anyone in their right mind trust that you would do this on the state level but be moderate at the national one?

Link please?

You want PP to link the legislative texts of the abortion bans in all of the states that have them? Seriously ?

Staffers in Harris’ office have reported a toxic work environment since 2021, when The Washington Post spoke with 18 individuals in Harris’ orbit. Descriptions ranged from “uncomfortable” to “soul-destroying.”

“One of the things we’ve said in our little text groups among each other is what is the common denominator through all this and it’s her,” former Harris aide and Democrat strategist Gil Duran told the Post. Back in 2013, after just five months of working for Harris, he quit. “Who are the next talented people you’re going to bring in and burn through and then have [them] pretend they’re retiring for positive reasons.”

Others said Harris blamed staff for her lack of preparation.

“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work,” a former anonymous staffer told the Post. “With Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully and it’s not really clear why.”

And Trump’s former employees are in prison, suing him for unpaid bills. And campaigning for the Democrats.

Workplace culture is going to be what you vote on?

Or “which states treat the life and health of women as equal to that of men” would be an equally telling answer.

I am relieved that Harris is drawing so much enthusiasm and excitement across the base. She was already on the ticket and helped Biden win the first time. Her messaging on reproductive freedom for women has been critical in a sea of men giving gross or misguided takes (Vance, Trump, etc.).

I think the media has always talked about her negatives but a lot of that rested on misogynist and racist tropes.

Biden v. Trump was an easy call to make (for Biden). Harris v. Trump will be an easy call to make for Harris too. The stakes are just way to high.

Up until a month ago, people constantly derided her and her favorability rating was in the shitter. I saw people on the left dissing her throughout the last 3 years.

It's just shameless how now everyone supposed to forget all that and act like she's the next Obama or something. Democrats are very messy party right and I don't trust Harris on issues such as the border, crime, and gender issues. If she moderates, I'll be happy to vote for her.

Yeah this, people are acting like this is some super organic rollout are funny. The fangirl stuff is very cringe and she's gonna champion the same unpopular policies from the Biden admin. She was the border czar and the border is horrible.

I don't like Trump but I'm not gonna sit here and believe that she's suddenly some popular politician. She was super unpopular for years and now she's supposedly awesome? She needs to moderate and convince skeptics that she won't be dysfunctional like the Biden admin (even though she was apart of it).

She doesn't NEED to do anything. You weren't going to vote for her anyway.

The way we win is by reengaging Biden 2020 voters and new voters and keep swings. No one who was going to vote for Trump is now going to vote for Harris. Trump is toast. The issue now is by how big of a margin. We all need to get out and mobilize voters: register new voters, help ppl get voter ID, ride ppl to pols and be poll watchers. One of the most beneficial things you can do is to VOTE EARLY!!! This frees up volunteers to reach out to less active voters, plus you get taken off our call lists!

When we win in numbers to big to steal, we will avoid the violence that MAGA so desperately wants.

People who want to start an argument about abortion should start a thread about abortion, instead of hijacking every thread with stupid questions that were answered the day before.
