None of those clubs except maybe Achilles plays in this city so how are those viable alternatives?? And how did any of this alleged “abuse” of a subordinate even affect players at the club? How did they put “business over kids” as you claim? Michelle had no involvement with the players. Yet families should decamp for a suburban club and spend hours during the week commuting to/from practice at clubs in MD and VA over this? Tom chose to steal the contact information of club families and sent multiple email blasts bashing the club while he was still employed as the travel director and trying to start his own competing club. And the club should’ve just said no problem, have a nice life? In what world would any organization just sit back and let that happen? But somehow DCSC is the bully, got it. Look, I’m not saying that they handled the Michelle situation perfectly, but some of these other complaints about the club come across like sour grapes or fantasy—or people trying to lure parents to other clubs. Organizations don’t operate the way some of you seem to believe, nor should they. |
Even though Michelle Alioto is not working directly with players, she is a full-time employee of a youth soccer organization and represents the club professionally. That alone makes her actions relevant to families. Also, before forming conclusions, we should ask: How did this all start? Was Michelle Alioto inviting a married, subordinate man to her hotel room, or was he just looking for an excuse to leave the club? That’s a critical question. As for “business over kids,” the issue isn’t just the misconduct, it’s the club’s decision to protect its internal image over taking transparent, corrective action. That sends a message about values. Families aren’t reacting because of fantasy or sour grapes, they’re reacting to how the situation was handled. |
Both of these things can be true. |
Although I don’t think Tom is married…? |
