Such a class look on a stunning woman. Outclassed Cara D in every way possible!!!

Errrm, no, this looks like a lot of TJ Maxx/Marshall’s dresses from the late 2010s. Seriously, the “random O ring on dresses” look is not Oscar-worthy. This looks like Macy’s sale rack. Hard pass. Cara D’s look, while it wasn’t my favorite, was at least in the ballpark.

Not even close. Cara D looks Fugly. Melanie exudes class.

I adore Melanie but that is one cheap-looking, unfortunate dress.

Stunning

I didn't really think it works. That big flower thing on the shoulder is just too much.

Yes, this seems like a lazy turn from the designer.

O ring and greasy hair, LOL, not classy. At all.

Thank you. I literally know nothing about these two actresses, and don’t have a dog in the fight. But to say the TJ Maxx special is “classy” is beyond a reach. And while I didn’t like Cara’s ensemble, at least it looks like it belongs at the Oscars and not some sad-sack DC Cherry Blossom Cruise charity event.

+1 Love Lynskey but that is doing nothing for her. Big shoulder pads + deep V + big boobs + weird hemline = no.

I usually love the dresses worn by Halle Berry but I don't need to see her crotch or the bruises on her calves. Yuk

Yes, that was a very bad choice.

Hadn’t seen this one here, not sure why Tia Carrere was there but this is smashing.

Ditto all of the above for Molly Sims, although her top needs to be hiked up a tad.

You guys, the back of this is so bad.

+2 if an outfit requires a bikini wax, maybe it’s not appropriate for the Oscars.

To be fair, the dresses shouldn't be compared to one another at all because they were worn to different events. Cara's dress was for a presenter at the Oscar's, Melanie's dress was for the Vanity Fair after-party which has a much larger and more liberal guest list and were even Oscar attendees often change into "party dresses" instead of big gowns. Cara D. wore something else to the afterparty.

Having said that, I'm the person who originally posted the Melanie Lynsky dress, and I really love her as an actress, and I think it's a really unfortunate dress. You can wear something cocktail length to this party but that hem is tragic and it just doesn't go with the top. I don't think she looks bad in the dress, I just think the dress is bad. Similar with Mindy Kaling -- she didn't look bad in her white dress, I just think it's a bad dress with a bad design.

Peopel often get defensive on behalf of people they like but when I criticize an outfit at one of these events, I am always criticizing the outfit itself and maybe the designer who made those choices or the style team who chose to put the individual in them. I never mean them as a knock on the person wearing it.

I like her hair but that's it. I might like that dress if it were just a little more substantial and structured. I have no trouble with sex appeal and showing skin on the red carpet (and this was for the after party, not the awards, so looser dress code) but this honestly looks like it's about to fall off her. It's like a tacky boudoir photo shoot outfit.

Also, while I do like the style of her hair, the color doesn't work with the colors of the dress. Going reddish and then wearing a lemon-lime outfits just feels like a big miss to me.

She also looks either high or drunk and given her history with alcohol, I wonder what's going on there.

Inflated uniboob looks painful

+1 her cleavage has me mystified.

I think it’s a nylon thing to hold her nursing pads in place and avoid leaky breast-feeding boobs.

I hate Chrissy Teigen’s dress. Hair and makeup is beautiful, though.
