I voted in an APS school on Election Day. That counts, right? |
LOL. Thank you. I needed to read this today. Did a couple quick searches and looks like he was appointed to shab in November 2022. https://twitter.com/angeloforchange/status/1588534159244668928?s=46&t=VyKcPwAcjKUgKQEU2fhneA And he’s only shown up for 1 of 2 meetings since getting appointment. A whole 1.5 hrs of service to the APS community! Totally ready for prime time on the school board! https://apsshab.weebly.com/meeting-agendas-and-notes.html |
So she’s an APE wonky. |

I am not concerned about her work life balance, thanks, although she's a relative newcomer to APS involvement so who knows if she understands all that the job entails. I am concerned about how much actual time she will have to devote to the role of Board member. I want a Board member who takes the time to be in our schools regularly, who will engage with all parts of the community (not just her APE constituency), who will attend PTA and committee and community meetings, and who will read all reports, proposed policies, etc. With her job, I don't see how she will have time for all of this, which means that we won't have a very engaged board member. Why are you fighting this? Don't you want an engaged and active board member too? or are you such a Miranda sycophant that you just don't care? |
You aren't familiar with people talking about School Board candidates? Welcome to Arlington. |
Do you have a link to Erin's comment to the School Board? |
Lovely. The child is looking better and better. (And that's saying something). I guess we can't have good candidates because who would want to run in this climate. |
Go to both of their websites and read their platforms. They are both APE. |
Ask and you shall receive. Sort of. Open Meetings are recorded and are on the APS website too. https://www.apsva.us/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/C-1-b-Minutes-for-the-February-2-2023-School-Board-Meeting.pdf |
The child can attend all the meetings between Gold’s Gym runs. |
I said this upthread, but APS SB is a part-time job. Sure it's nice if people can do it full-time, but most can't. It also pays like crap. So that can't be my standard to pick who I vote for. |
How many law firm partners do you know with a (demanding) part time job? |

John Vihstadt was a member of the Arlington County Board and a partner at a law firm. |
