Yup. Many parents worked with their kids who were distance learning while they themselves held jobs. Many other parents homeschooled their kids altogether. Both required time. Miranda went to private school instead, an option that means she herself didn't have to spend time working with her kids. It's also not an option that most had. This has nothing to do with teachers being babysitters, although ironically many in her APE group did complain very loudly about their lost childcare, read the teachers/school during that time. But the post was lost on you. It's a legit question to ask how much time a big law firm partner is going to devote to the school board.
This is up there with being one of the most bone headed stupidest posts I have ever seen on this site. And that’s saying something!
Why is is stupid to ask about how much time she has to commit to the Board? It's a really big job.
Yeah. I'm sure she is naively unaware of the time commitment, and woefully unprepared for the role. You have sussed out her deficiency. You should probably tip off ArlNow immediately so they can do an article on your groundbreaking revelation.
I am not concerned about her work life balance, thanks, although she's a relative newcomer to APS involvement so who knows if she understands all that the job entails. I am concerned about how much actual time she will have to devote to the role of Board member. I want a Board member who takes the time to be in our schools regularly, who will engage with all parts of the community (not just her APE constituency), who will attend PTA and committee and community meetings, and who will read all reports, proposed policies, etc. With her job, I don't see how she will have time for all of this, which means that we won't have a very engaged board member. Why are you fighting this? Don't you want an engaged and active board member too? or are you such a Miranda sycophant that you just don't care?
