I used to be hooked on the show. I liked seeing how this otherwise normal family coped with everyday things such as groceries, laundry, errands, cleaning, job etc. The latest season really turned me off. Through the success of the show, Jon has quite his job, Kate is working as a TV personality and making money from it. They are living in a million dollars homes, and are outsourcing cleaning, running errands, nannies, shopping etc.
Now all we see is their free trips to locations and events. It has lost all of it's appeal. For instance, they all get a free ticket to see the globe trotters, cirque de solel etc. I before liked looking at it to see how they managed these trips. Now they get front row seats with individual backstage passes etc...so it's no longer has the attraction it used to. Now I feel like I am just watching rockstar life to a family who totally got there because they decided to televise their lives. I am becoming appauled by the whole show...I wanted to see if anyone else feels the same way. |
| hate them! |
| I don't have the links but there are some funny websites dedicated to hating this show. I think one of them is Goselinswithoutpity.com. |
| At least they are normal, in my opinion. Unlike the Little House on the Prairie-dress wearing Duggers. |
| "Normal" is relative. I think they are all alike in that they are exploiting their children for $$. I don't see any difference between these families and the Quints that were born in Canada in the 1950's and who were put on "exhibit", etc., and toured around Canada. Today, these kids are put "on exhibit" via television. |
| I love the show. |
| Have soured on them for the reasons OP says. |
the family of 18? |
| I have also soured on it. turning point for me was when they renewed vows in Hawaii..... it all looked so contrived. |
| OP: How do you know they outsource all of that? |
They mention it on their website and on the show. It's also quite obvious, kate no longer is seeing doing groceries, running errands, cleaning doing laundry etc. |

I hear what you're saying, but I still enjoy the show. Yeah - it's not longer realistic and Kate is awful but it's still an enjoyable show (to me).
That being said, I won't feel too badly for them one bit when the show ends and all the freebies go away... Kate had better not complain when it does happen! |
I'm hooked. I hope they are socking the $$ away for colllege, though, that's all I can say.

| I watched it once, and I just didn't understand the appeal. Kate sat on the couch and narrated her day for the viewers. It was something like "Today we will be going to the mall. Children A, B, and C will need juice boxes in the car for the trip. Children D and E do not like juice boxes, so I will have to pack kool-aid for them. Children F, G and H will want to eat popcorn in the car, so I'll put that into sandwich bags." (but this took about 10 minutes to explain). Now, why in the name of god would I care about the minutiae of her children's in-car snacks? This is a television show?? |

I hate them too. If you read some of the bolgs written by people hwo KNOW the goslings you will be appaled. They go around to churches in small towns, basically asking for money, apssing around the church's plate, asking for a "love offering". They are vile people.
The Duggars might be strange, but they seem like much better people. I would prefer to have the Duggars as my neighbors than the Goslings. |
