| I agree with most of the sentiments but maybe they just aren't filming the mundane tasks of laundry, errands, etc. and just showing what they think is the fun stuff. |
| Hate them too. Loving this thread, though! |
| If I were in their shoes, I'd outsource the hell out of everything I could and take all the freebies I could get. Why not? I think that's different than panhandling at churches, but I don't know if I really believe that. |
At least the Gosslins don't think Adam and Eve were hanging out with the dinosaurs. |
|
At least the Duggars do charity work and put their many hands (literally) to good use - visiting and providing for an orphanage in El Savador was the one episode that came to mind.
I used to like Jon & Kate - it's human nature to see how other people do things, but now it's so edited and cheesy. |
| I heard that there is trouble in river city. Apparently Jon was at a frat party kissing a senior! |
A senior citizen? |
I would rather deal with those beliefs than be friends with scammers. Jon & Kate have some pretty conservative religious views (though thy are hypocrites unlike the Duggars who actually live what they believe, regardless if I agree or not, I can RESPECT them for it). She did not selectivly reduce because of her religious views. This choice just happened to be her jackpot. |
| While I find Kate annoying because she is so controlling. I see nothing wrong with making money--the show only tapes for a certain amount of time a year so it's not like they are being taped every minute. I am glad they found a way to pay for all these kids rather than asking the government to step in and I think they realize there is a certain amount of time to make money and then the rose will be off the bloom. I think a lot of people get jealous and somehow would be happy if they were struggling. Not surprised given the nastiness that I see in this country. |
Me too. The kids are so cute, that I'm still kind of hooked, but in a much more "guilty feeling" way. It is interesting to watch the kids grow, but you also start to feel more and more voyeuristic as they get older. It has been interesting - and disappointing - to watch the progression from "a day in the life" to "a day in the life of rich realty TV stars." The vacation trips and special back-stage access events are becoming more and more grating. Does anyone think that Jon's comments at the end of the season talking about the strain of the show and questioning whether he wants to continue (Kate clearly does) will amount to anything -- or is that just more false TV suspense? |
| Hate is too strong of a word to describe my sentiments. I don't care enough about them to hate them. But, I agree with the OP that the show has lost its original premise and its appeal. It's no longer about the day-in-the-life of having multiples. It used to be really interesting to see how they struggle with/come up with strategies for parenting multiples. I remember the first episode I watched which showed the twins opening their birthday presents. Because they are given the same things, if one of them opened her gift first, then it would no longer be a surprise for the twin. So, they had the twins sit back to back and open the gift at the same time. Things like that were interesting...not their all-expense-paid, luxury trip to Hawaii. |
Last thing I read was John had moved from their home and was having good times with younger college girls. The way his wife yells at him almost every second I predicted they would split soon.
|
| I agree that as they become celebrities it is less interesting, but there is NO WAY I could live close to the Duggers. Frankly, this whole, "At least they live what they believe" argument is lost on me. I don't always live what I believe. That's human nature. |

I don't know what there is to hate. If you do hate though, why keep watching??? That's truly bizarre - watching yet hating and judging, and watching....
As a mom of 2 under 2 I barely have time to watch my few DVR'd shows so I'm certainly not going to waste my time on something I really hate. I think it's more a case that everyone still wants to be a voyeur and see what they're doing, but now that they have capitalized on their lifestyle envy on the part of viewers has crept in. |
| Jon was recently pictured with a bunch of college girls partying. |
