Meghan and Prince Harry are moving to the U.S./Canada - OFFICIAL

The public perception of him would have better, had Harry expressed that he is happy and moving on. But he still had to whine and bring up being “Diana’s second son”. That just is super off-putting. It’s clear they wanted to have a cake and eat it too meaning keeping all the titles and favorite charities and pick and choose the official duties and avoid the rota. Now he and Meghan realize that it would be hard rake in the dough without using the royalty card.

Stay tuned. They will be there at the pleasure of the Queen.

I’m a mildly interested American. I like H&M but not obsessive. I don’t have an negative impression of the royal family but I’m also not too interested in their every move. You know, a typical American consumer.

The first time I ever saw a pic of the “balcony” was because Meghan was on it. It was relevant to me because of Meghan, not Meghan relevant to me because of her presence there.

You are not the typical royal-obsessed American.

The typical American is not royal obsessed. The typical American is royalty-curious. Like everyone else, we are mostly interested in our own domestic affairs. It’s been cool so far to have an American Royal (not unlike Grace Kelly from generations gone by).

And yes in our eyes Meghan and Harry are still royals. This HRH thing is a distinction without a difference.

I didn’t say the typical American was royal-obsessed. Americans who are royal-obsessed will have seen the royals on the balconies several times, especially the wedding of Diana and Charles and Kathe and William. You are unusual.

You seem to have misread something. I am NOT royal-obsessed. I am a normal millennial American who is open to loving H&M. You know, their target demo. I am slightly more likely to watch a Disney movie if Meghan were cast in it. Don’t care enough to go back and watch Suits and didn’t watch it the first time. My point is only, they have a real shot at winning us over and have a head start right now to building cool careers. They could also blow it, no doubt.

But nothing that has happened so far with the Queen has influenced it either way. And if they never stand on a balcony again, that calculus doesn’t change.

I think it’d be super cool if they did like, a Nat Geo type special about African wildlife. I’d watch for sure. Maybe another special about Canadian indigenous life. I’d tune into that too.

My eyes glaze over with the HRH talk.

Yet according to the queen’s statement he’s still Prince Harry, he just won’t be addressed as HRH Prince Harry?!?

Come on. Americans don’t get this obsession with HRH. Princes are princes. End of story.

They even get to keep their SussexRoyal brand ffs. The queen is all smoke and mirrors with her British sheep, no way is that granny throwing her grandson under the bus.

The Sussex Royal brand is as meaningful as Royal Farms or Burger King.

Tip for H&M:

Study up on Keanu Reeves. He’s beloved because he’s always come off like he isn’t impressed by Hollywood, isn’t trying to be rich or famous, keeps a low profile aside from promoting a film, etc. People love him because he seems cool and normal. Nobody thinks he’s selfish or greedy.

Try that.

Meghan should have given it a few more years and a couple more grand tours to allow people appreciate her, like Diana. Let Archie play with his cousins in the public eye. Not much to miss with less than 2 years as a full-time royal. Compared to the other royals, she was fresh and different. Away from them she has to stack up next to other actors and established celebrities.

Keanu is an A-list actor. His movies are BLOCKBUSTERS. He IS rich and famous!

Plus, everyone will always blame her for pulling a Yoko and dragging poor Harry away from his family.

Imagine if M had dressed in J Crew or the British equivalent (think: Michelle Obama), posted her own pics of her baby (think: Kate), occasionally done some charity work, ventured out in jeans to shop at regular stores (again: Kate), done the occasional trip to Africa to support H’s causes (think: Diana), etc. she would have been beloved—and even more popular than Kate and Wm.

+1 She comes across as impatient with this move. Barely made it 2 years after you consider her maternity leave and 6 week break.

We know, dummy.

But he doesn’t come off that way. Nobody thinks of him as a sellout. He keeps a low profile. He dresses down.

H&M are the complete opposite of Keanu. They’re media-seeking Kardashian clones.

The whining is off-putting to anyone who has to work for a living, doesn’t get to go on lavish trips, have people to do everything for you, have a huge clothing allowance, get to stay at multi-million dollar estates, etc.

I agree, similar to Meghan’s “brave” smile while holding back crocodile tears and saying no one has asked how SHE was doing after Archie’s birth. These two are unbelievable.

But they won’t be together much longer and granny will take him back.

I think the Queen got wind of these arrangements and made them choose money and deals or royalty.

As she should. She's always made it very clear that you can't cheapen your royal affiliations by auctioning them off for sale so I would hope it didn't come as a surprise to H&M in their grand plan for financial independence.

The Queen only said they won’t use HRH. Most Americans don’t even get that was previous part of their titles of duke and duchess of Sussex.

Most Americans only know they left the royal family and really don’t care what they do now.

I haven’t found it off putting so far. The press coverage I have seen turned my stomach so I thought their level of being upset was proportional.

How do you figure? My twitter feed of young media types has been very excited to see them go in a different direction

I don’t wish divorce on anyone. However, as a beloved blood relatives of the monarchs, he and Archie will always be welcomed back.
